"Twice Bitten, Forever Yours: The CEO's Secret Guardian" Chapter 031

Chapter 031: Heartwarming Younger Brother

In her past life, she had received an invitation to the Sea City First High anniversary, but at that time, she happened to have a performance abroad and did not attend. Therefore, she didn't know if Silas Sterling had returned to the school for the celebration.

Several days had passed without any news of Silas Sterling returning from the capital, so she hadn't dwelt much on the thought of seeing him.

Not thinking about it, however, did not mean she didn't want to see him.

Next week?

She couldn't help but feel a spark of anticipation.

Closing her computer and picking up her phone, she stood up quickly and headed downstairs.

"Eldest Miss, is there some emergency? Do you need me to arrange a driver for you?" Auntie Du asked as she walked in, catching sight of Seraphina descending the stairs in a hurry.

Auntie Du rarely saw such an anxious expression on Seraphina’s face. The Seraphina she knew was always dignified, steady, reserved, and indifferent. Thus, she felt compelled to ask.

"No." Seraphina had already regained her usual calm composure, but if one looked closely, a trace of urgency still lingered in her eyes.

She gave a faint smile and asked softly, "Auntie Du, did any packages arrive for me today?"

"A package?" Auntie Du looked slightly surprised.

So it was just a package. She had thought the Eldest Miss was in such a rush because of an urgent matter outside. But since it was a package that made her so tense, it must be something very important.

"I didn't notice. Wait a moment, Miss, I'll call the security post to ask."

"No—" Seraphina almost instinctively said she would go herself, but fortunately, her reason remained intact. She paused and changed her words: "Alright, thank you, Auntie Du."

While Auntie Du made the call, Seraphina sat on the sofa to wait.

Before the package arrived, she received a call from Leo.

It was a weekday, but Leo hadn't gone to school. These past few days, he had been heading to the Pierce Group and spent most of his time at the company, so it wasn't strange for him to call her during class hours.

"Sis, have you seen the news online? Uncle’s recent activity online is comparable to a first-tier celebrity in the entertainment industry."

"I saw it." It was she, after all, who had given it a push from behind the scenes.

"So, what are your thoughts? Why do you think Uncle is doing this and making such a scene?"

Hearing this, Seraphina’s lips curved slightly. "How do you know it was

him

who made the scene?"

Leo was confused. "Wasn't it?"

"Who knows."

Leo: "..." There was silence for a while.

It was unclear if he had guessed something.

Then, he heard Seraphina’s calm voice over the phone: "From now on, you don't need to worry about anything related to... Uncle and Auntie Sylvia. Just focus on helping Dad at the company."

Leo remained quiet for a moment. "...Don't worry, Sister. I'll help Dad properly."

"Good. I’m hanging up then."

"Wait, Sis! One more thing."

"Go ahead."

"I haven't been to school much lately, but the class monitor just called me. That’s how I found out the Sea City First High centennial anniversary is coming up. I suspect you might receive an invitation. Just a reminder to keep an eye on the mail at home."

"Zoey already called to tell me about that."

Just then, Auntie Du walked over with a package. "Eldest Miss, there is indeed a package for you..." Seeing Seraphina on the phone, she quickly went silent and gave an apologetic smile.

Seraphina stood up, holding the phone in one hand and taking the package with the other, while nodding her thanks to Auntie Du.

Glancing at the package, she said to Leo on the other end, "The invitation is here."

Leo had overheard the exchange with Auntie Du and guessed as much. "Will you go to the school then?"

Without waiting for an answer, he continued, "You should go check it out. You’ve rarely gone back to First High since graduating early. The school has changed quite a bit; you might even run into some old acquaintances to catch up with."

Suddenly, Leo’s tone shifted, becoming serious: "Sis, work never ends. Don't let trivial matters affect your real life. Life still needs to be lived."

It was clear that even if Leo didn't know exactly what had made Seraphina so unusual lately, he had his suspicions.

Seraphina’s hand holding the phone paused.

Then she gave a light laugh. "What are you saying? You make it sound like I’ve stopped living my life."

She didn't give Leo another chance to speak. "Alright, after all that talk, isn't it just that you don't want me staying cooped up at home and want me to go out more? I’ll go."

"...I spoke so subtly and you still heard it, Sis? That’s no fun. But Sis, I’m not saying you’re a shut-in, I just think you’re young and should live a young person’s life. Staying home all day isn't right; be careful or you'll never get married."

As if afraid of being scolded, Leo hung up immediately. Seraphina thought she heard a faint sigh over the line before it cut off.

Seraphina pursed her lips slightly, staring at the darkened screen of her phone for a long time. Finally, a helpless smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.

This younger brother of hers was indeed the qualified heir of the Pierce family that everyone praised; he was truly clever.

Then, thinking of something, the smile on her lips faltered.

In that case, she would have to make her own presence even more felt. At the very least, she had to make Silas and Sylvia pay more attention to her than to Leo, making them feel that her existence was a greater threat to them.

Perhaps she should find another person to protect Leo, just as the Lin couple protected her parents.

However, arranging people around them one after another might alert Silas and Sylvia, which she didn't want to do just yet.

So, to deal with the situation where Leo seemed to have sensed something, there were only three ways to ensure his safety.

First, send Leo away;

Second, keep Leo within her sight at all times so she could protect him;

Third, solve the problem at its root by improving Leo's own combat skills so he has enough ability to protect himself.

The first two methods were clearly not feasible. Leo would never agree to leave, and she couldn't watch him every second.

As for improving his skills, the masters who taught Leo self-defense in the past obviously couldn't achieve results in a short time. Therefore, she either had to find another martial arts master for Leo, or do it herself.

Compared to finding another master, Seraphina trusted herself more. Of course, it would be a different story if that master were Silas Sterling.

But asking Silas Sterling to teach Leo wouldn't work. In this life, she and Silas Sterling had only met once! They didn't even count as acquaintances. Besides, Silas Sterling had plenty of his own matters to deal with and wouldn't have much free time to teach others.

Even though she really wished he could teach Leo. All her skills were taught by him; she believed he would teach better than she could.

Never mind, she was just dreaming.

Since she had the idea, she would first create a training plan for Leo. There was no need to go far; her practice room was well soundproofed, and since only she and Leo lived on the third floor, it was a perfect place for training.

Previously, she had only thought about dealing with Silas and Sylvia and hadn't considered this.

Leo was right; no matter what, life must go on. After dealing with Silas and Sylvia, Leo’s life would still be long. Learning more skills would ensure he was prepared.

The question was, how should she explain to Leo that she was actually quite skilled in combat?

The next evening, after returning from the company and eating dinner, they went upstairs.

Leo looked at the plan he had just received from Seraphina, looking completely dazed.

"Sis, what... is this?"
