Chapter 038: Cutting Off the Peach Blossom

Xara said displeasedly, "Who is this woman? She’s doing this on purpose, isn't she? Who in Sea City doesn't know about Seraphina and Silas Sterling’s blind date? Even if they didn't know, even if Seraphina and Silas were strangers, what does it have to do with her? Why bring up Silas out of nowhere! People would think she’s his girlfriend or something!"

Her voice wasn't very loud; only Xander, standing next to her, could hear. Xander was also speechless—especially seeing Holly Hu say those things to Seraphina’s face. He knew better than anyone that Silas had taken a genuine interest in Seraphina. Holly saying these ambiguous things to Seraphina’s face was just looking for trouble for Silas!

"A high school classmate. She’s Silas’s old classmate," Xander emphasized to Xara. "Just a classmate, nothing more. I can guarantee that since graduation, Silas hasn't had any contact with her."

He was being a good wingman; for the sake of Silas’s happiness, he had to speak up even to his own sister, because his sister was Seraphina’s best friend.

Xara, seeing Xander so serious, knew he wasn't lying. She frowned slightly. "Then isn't this woman intentionally trying to drive a wedge between them? Is she interested in Silas?"

Xander: "..." It was no secret in their class, or even their entire year, that Holly Hu liked Silas Sterling. But he couldn't be the one to say it; if he messed up Silas’s chances, he’d likely suffer for it.

"I wouldn't know about that. My relationship with Holly is just average."

Xara stared straight at him, highly skeptical. Xander’s mouth twitched. "What, you don't believe me?"

Xara didn't speak, but her eyes said she didn't believe a word. Well, she believed that they were just classmates and hadn't been in touch, but not the part about not knowing her feelings.

"Let’s go over. Seraphina is too well-bred and usually quiet; she’ll lose out dealing with a woman who has such twisted intentions. I have to help her."

Xander暗暗吐槽 as he followed Xara.

Well-bred and quiet doesn't mean she’ll lose out.

Seraphina Pierce was not someone without a temper.

As they walked over, they happened to hear Seraphina speak in a calm voice: "Of course I've heard of him. I went on a blind date with him not long ago."

Seeing the smile suddenly freeze on Holly’s face, Seraphina’s smile remained gentle. "It seems many people know about our blind date. Hadn't you heard, Miss Hu?"

"Actually, the reason we had that date was my father's idea. He thinks very highly of Silas and considers him a rare talent—one of the few young men worthy of being a life partner. I think my father makes a lot of sense."

"Silas is indeed outstanding, perhaps the most exceptional young man I've ever met. It’s no wonder he was such a legendary figure at First High back then."

"Since you keep bringing him up, Miss Hu, you must be very close to him, right? Since you're so close, he actually didn't tell you that he went on a blind date with me?" Seraphina looked confused, as if she truly couldn't understand it.

"Something so important... it shouldn't be..."

"Could it be that Silas isn't serious about this?" At this, she frowned slightly, looking somewhat unhappy. "After all, it concerns our lifelong happiness. We both had a very good impression of each other after the date. If he isn't serious..."

And that final touch—acting like she forgot someone was there because she was so immersed in her emotions—was she serious? Anyone with half a brain could see she was doing it on purpose, right? What an affected act!

The key was that while others might look tacky doing it, she managed to stay perfectly elegant. Impressive!

To Leo, Holly Hu bringing up Silas Sterling in front of his sister with such an ambiguous tone was an act of provocation. It was no wonder his face was dark. But after hearing Seraphina’s response, his cold expression softened, and a hint of a smile could be seen in his eyes. His sister was always calm, steady, and dignified; he didn't expect her to have such a "childish" side.

Yes, in Leo’s eyes, Seraphina’s act was childish. The subtle smile in his eyes was one of happiness and indulgence.

"You're too kind, Miss Pierce," Holly Hu managed to squeeze out a smile. "I didn't realize you and Silas had such a connection. I was ill-informed."

"Actually, the reason I brought him up was simply because he's the most successful among our classmates. I thought few people wouldn't know him, and mentioning I was his classmate might help me make a few more friends. He and I are just ordinary classmates. It’s only normal he wouldn't tell me about something as private as a blind date."

"Please don't overthink it, Miss Pierce."

Holly’s quick emotional recovery caught Seraphina a bit by surprise. In her past life, Holly Hu wasn't among the women involved with Silas. So it was only now that she knew such a person existed and had feelings for him.

Technically, she shouldn't be cutting off potential "peach blossoms" for Silas if she wasn't sure they were "rotten" ones. Her job was only to block the bad ones. But why couldn't she control herself from saying those things just now?

After thinking for a moment, Seraphina decided her reaction was so strong because Holly was someone Lucas Lu liked, and Lucas was always malicious toward Silas. She didn't want anyone connected to Lucas to have anything to do with Silas. After all, "small ghosts" are hard to deal with, and Lucas was exactly that kind of troublesome "small ghost."

With this thought, Seraphina successfully convinced herself.

She gave a light smile. "So that’s how it is. It was hard enough to find someone who interests me; I thought he wasn't being serious. You gave me a fright. I've made a fool of myself in front of you, Miss Hu."

Since she had already cut off this peach blossom, she might as well do it thoroughly.

"Not at all. It was my lack of tact that caused the misunderstanding. Lucas and I are heading straight to the auditorium. Would you like to join us, Miss Pierce?"

"I’m going to see my old homeroom teacher first."

"Alright then, see you later." Without waiting for a response, Holly grabbed Lucas and walked away.

Normally, Lucas would be thrilled if Holly took the initiative to hold his hand. But right now, he wasn't happy at all. His face remained dark. Holly didn't notice his expression; the moment she turned around, her own face sank. There was resentment and a deep, burning jealousy.
