"Twice Bitten, Forever Yours: The CEO's Secret Guardian" Chapter 039

Chapter 039: Subconsciously

"Seraphina, are you and that CEO Silas Sterling of JH Entertainment truly..." Tina Wu hadn't left. Having suppressed her emotions long ago, she looked at Seraphina with an air of pure curiosity, then stopped herself as if realizing the question was inappropriate.

"I don't mean anything else, I’m just very surprised."

"Surprised by what?" It was Xara who picked up the conversation.

"Our Seraphina is outstanding enough, and Silas Sterling isn't bad either. Whether it’s looks, IQ, or personal achievement, I think they’re quite a match."

Xara didn't have any ulterior motives; she was simply curious about what Tina was surprised about. In her view, there was really nothing to be shocked by. She had forgotten that when she first learned of Seraphina's interest in Silas, she hadn't been so calm either—it was just that after so many days, she had settled into the idea.

Plus, with Xander constantly singing Silas's praises in her ear, she gradually became more convinced that the two of them were indeed a perfect match...

"Tina, do you think it's unbelievable that someone with Seraphina’s personality would suddenly take an interest in someone?"

Tina’s face twitched slightly. "Yeah, I just never expected Seraphina to actually be interested in anyone. She’s so exceptional, and for all these years, no one seemed able to catch her eye, so... anyway, it is quite surprising."

Xara patted Tina on the shoulder and said with a laugh: "You’ll get used to it. Our Seraphina graduated from university four years ago; even though she’s only twenty-two, it's time she considered dating and all that."

She turned to Seraphina. "Seraphina, I thought you were going to lose out just now. I didn't realize your combat strength was so high. Very good, keep it up."

Seraphina gave a light laugh and turned to Xander, nodding slightly in greeting. "Master Zale."

She didn't show even a hint of embarrassment that Xander had overheard her previous words—even though she knew perfectly well that given the relationship between Xander and Silas, he must know exactly how that blind date had ended.

It wasn't a case of mutual good impressions at all. It was her rejecting Silas on the spot...

Cough.

She regretted it. Why hadn't she been reborn just a few hours earlier? If she had come back before the blind date, there wouldn't be all this trouble later on...

Thinking this, Seraphina suddenly felt a jolt.

What was she thinking? Did she actually want to agree to that blind date? She didn't have

that

kind of feeling for Silas; if she had nodded, wouldn't she be deceiving his feelings?

But weren't the things she was doing and saying now essentially the same as agreeing? Except for her and Silas, the two parties involved, no one knew the truth. This could be considered a form of deception, right? What if even Silas misunderstood?

But if she didn't do this, how was she supposed to ward off his bad "peach blossoms"? She needed a reasonable excuse to get close to him!

What a headache. Forget it, she would find a chance to explain slowly to Silas in the future.

Having eavesdropped once before, Xander was already mentally prepared. So, hearing Seraphina’s words this time, aside from being amazed that she would speak like that, he didn't feel anything was wrong. On the contrary, he was quite happy to hear it. This meant Silas had a much better chance of getting what he wanted.

He nodded with a smile: "Miss Pierce." He then looked at Leo: "Master Pierce."

Leo also nodded in return: "Master Zale."

It was a bit formal, but their relationship wasn't that close to begin with, so such titles weren't inappropriate.

Seraphina looked at Xander as if she wanted to ask something, but in the end, she swallowed her words and turned to Xara. "I’m going to see my teacher first. Want to come?"

As for why Xander, who knew the truth, wasn't surprised to hear her say such unrealistic things about her and Silas hitting it off—Seraphina didn't dwell on it. Or perhaps, she subconsciously ignored it.

"I'll go too." Xara was also holding a small gift bag. Just as she was about to ask Tina, Tina spoke up first: "I've arranged to meet someone else at the auditorium, so I’ll head over there first. I won't join you."

Tina hadn't brought a gift. To be precise, she hadn't thought about visiting anyone at all.

[Author's Note]

I don't know if my immunity has dropped due to lack of sleep lately, but I've had a high fever all day. Remembering that I said there would be a bonus update this morning, I managed to write a little. My head is spinning. Tomorrow's update might be a bit late; I'd better take some medicine and sleep. Health truly is the foundation of everything; everyone must take good care of themselves!
