"Twice Bitten, Forever Yours: The CEO's Secret Guardian" Chapter 057

Chapter 057: Solas Wakes Up

Realizing her slip of the tongue, Seraphina felt incredibly foolish.

Besides, why was she panicking? It was just touching the corner of his mouth! She was acting like an inexperienced little girl, not calm at all!

It wasn't like her.

"Sera?" Solas rubbed his forehead, appearing as though he had just woken up.

By now, Seraphina had regained her composure and smiled faintly. "Mm, it's me."

Solas swept a glance at his surroundings. "This is my room? Why are you here? I remember drinking with two friends at Dawn—how did I get back?"

"You were indeed drinking at Dawn, and this is indeed your home. I went to Dawn to find a friend, happened to run into you drunk, and brought you back."

Solas sat up, leaning back against the headboard. "How did you know where I lived?"

"I made a quick phone call to ask. Seahaven isn't that large; though not many people know where you live, it's not a complete secret either."

"Then how did you open my door?"

Seraphina’s gaze flickered. "I asked you, and you told me the password. Did you forget? You were quite drunk at the time, so it's not surprising you don't remember."

Little liar.

She hadn't made a single phone call on the way there.

She had come straight here.

And he certainly hadn't told her the villa's password.

Solas stared at her fixedly for about half a minute before withdrawing his gaze, rubbing his forehead again. "I drank too much and don't remember what I did. I've made a fool of myself in front of you."

"It's no big deal. But Big Brother Solas, why did you drink so much? Did something happen to upset you?"

She couldn't get an answer while he was drunk, so now that he was awake, she naturally had to ask again.

She knew Solas was usually restrained and wouldn't get dead drunk. She couldn't let go of the fact that he had suddenly intoxicated himself; she felt something must have happened.

Solas thought back to what Frank had said.

Solomon was indeed a nuisance.

If she stayed by his side, she might be in danger.

Seeing his expression, Seraphina knew she was right.

Combining her memories with recent information she had gathered, a quick analysis gave her a general guess.

The only things that could trouble Solas were the Sterling family or people related to them.

Owen Fang had told her before that Solomon was returning to the country soon. She had checked, and the news was true.

Solomon was a pest. Once she finished dealing with the Pierce family's affairs, he would be the first person she'd eliminate!

At the earliest a month, at most three, the Pierce family's situation would be settled.

Solomon wouldn't be back for a while yet; three months was plenty of time.

"It's nothing. Just two childhood friends came to Seahaven, and I was happy, so I had a few extra drinks. You probably saw them at Dawn."

"Mm, I did. One of them is actually a relative; I call him Cousin."

"You mean Frank Fu?"

"Yes, that's him. By seniority, he calls my grandmother 'grand-aunt.' Anyway, let's not talk about them. I cooked some hangover soup for you; drink it quickly, or you'll feel unwell when you wake up tomorrow."

He was about to reach out to take it when he saw she had already scooped a spoonful and brought it to his lips. Her movements were natural and practiced.

Solas suddenly thought of the hot tear that had landed on the corner of his mouth earlier.

His long eyelashes lowered slightly, masking the emotions in his eyes.

However, he didn't actually let her feed him, much as he wanted to.

They had only officially met today; doing this would be inappropriate. He was afraid of leaving a bad impression.

If she saw him as someone who needed to be waited on, that wouldn't be good.

An occasional feeding was romantic playfulness, but doing it for a long period carried a completely different meaning.

He reached out to take the bowl. "I'll do it myself."

Seraphina suddenly realized her actions were too intimate for their current relationship and felt a bit awkward.

"Alright then."

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Solas drain the bowl in one go. He didn't even taste it to see if it was good; wasn't he afraid of it being a "dark cuisine" disaster?

Seraphina took the empty bowl.

"Thank you," Solas said.

Seraphina smiled and shook her head. "Then get some rest early. Since you're awake, change into pajamas; it'll be more comfortable to sleep in. Don't take a shower; wait until tomorrow morning." He was still drunk; if he accidentally slipped in the bathroom...

"I'll be heading back now."

Solas was happy to hear her concern, but then he heard her say she was leaving.

Almost instinctively, he grabbed her wrist. "You're leaving?"

Seraphina looked down at her caught wrist and blinked, startled. However, she didn't pull away. It was this downward glance that made Solas realize what he had done.

He hurriedly let go.

"I mean... it's too late, it's not safe for you to go back. There are extra rooms here; just tidy one up and stay for the night. If your family asks, I'll explain."

"I'll go tidy up a guest room for you right now."

He made a move to get up, but Seraphina stopped him.

"You rest. I'll tidy it myself."

"But..."

"No 'buts.' Just tell me where the things are."

In the end, Solas helplessly told her where to get the supplies and found a set of clean, unworn pajamas for her.

Watching the girl busy herself in his home, a sense of indescribable satisfaction began to grow in Solas's heart.

When Seraphina woke up the next morning and went downstairs after washing up, Solas had already prepared breakfast.

The ingredients were, of course, bought fresh that morning.

"Morning."

Hearing her voice, Solas smiled at her. "Morning."

He had thought meeting in the morning might be awkward, but the atmosphere was more harmonious than he imagined.

She didn't find it uncomfortable, which made him very happy.

"Last night... thank you for the trouble. Bringing me back and cooking soup for me."

As for other things that couldn't be explained, he didn't want to think deeply, nor did he feel the need to.

There were things he feared would ruin their current rapport if brought into the light.

That was not what he wanted.

Seraphina shook her head and sat down opposite him. "You drank so much, why didn't you sleep in?"

Sleep in? He had hardly slept all night.

Just thinking that she was in his house, in the room right next to his, made him too excited to sleep.

"I'm used to waking up at this time."

Seraphina didn't doubt him. Solas was indeed very self-disciplined, much like herself; they both woke up on schedule.

"Shall I send you back after breakfast?"

"No, you had a hangover all night. Let me drive you to the office instead. Don't drive yourself; I'll head back after dropping you off."

She took a sip of porridge. "This tastes good."

The casual atmosphere was like a couple who had lived together for many years.

Solas's hand holding the spoon paused slightly.

The corners of his mouth curled up unconsciously.

If this could become their daily routine for the rest of their lives...

It definitely would!

He hadn't cared much about Solomon before; by himself, Solomon couldn't harm him at all. Now, however, he had to take it seriously.

Even if it was called selfish, he would never let her go.

As long as he was alive, he would not let her suffer even a hint of harm.

If Seraphina knew Solas’s thoughts, her heart would surely ache again.

He did far more than "as long as he was alive." In her past life, even after he left this world, he had left her enough protection to ensure her safety.
