"Twice Bitten, Forever Yours: The CEO's Secret Guardian" Chapter 062
Chapter 062: An Appointment to Go Together
The day before Sera Zale’s fashion show, Seraphina gave Solas a call.
When Solas received the call, he was handling business in his private office on the top floor of the Sterling Entertainment Media building.
He had been away from Seahaven recently to handle some matters and had only returned this morning.
He had intended to call Seraphina to ask her to dinner once he finished his work, but her call came first.
Seeing the caller ID, he immediately stopped what he was doing.
"Sera." His voice was pleasant and deep, his lips curving into a slight smile, his peach-blossom eyes filled with tenderness.
"Mm, it's me. Big Brother Solas, are you back in Seahaven?" Seraphina held the steering wheel with one hand and her phone to her ear with the other.
She had stayed in touch with Solas over these days, so she knew he hadn't been in the city. He had mentioned his return date in passing before, and she remembered it was today, but she wasn't sure exactly what time he would arrive.
Tomorrow was the fashion show, and the day after was the banquet for Tyler and Fiona. She was currently out after receiving a call from Sera Zale. Sera wanted her to come over before the show started to help check for any missing details.
Since she had handed the task over to Sera Zale, Seraphina hadn't asked much about it. At this point, it seemed wrong not to go take a look, so she agreed.
However, before going to Sera’s studio, there was one place she needed to go first.
The banquet was the day after tomorrow, and she had finished the basic layout, but there were some things she needed to do personally and silently. She had to visit the venue again.
The banquet location was not a place of pleasant memories for her. Although she had been there frequently lately to arrange the event, there were certain specific spots she still couldn't bring herself to enter.
And yet, that very spot was crucial to her plan for the day after tomorrow.
At such a moment, she thought of calling Solas.
It wasn't that she wanted him to help with anything; she simply wanted to hear his voice to steady her nerves before going.
As she made the call, she gripped her phone tightly.
Her emotional fluctuation wasn't due to the call itself, but because she had remembered the scene from her past life—Leo falling from the high building, blood pooling on the ground.
She controlled her emotions well, but Solas still keenly detected a slight abnormality. He was concerned, but he didn't want to ask directly, fearing he might be making a mountain out of a molehill and that asking would be inappropriate.
"I'm back. Just returned not long ago."
Back.
For no reason at all, Seraphina suddenly felt a sense of relief.

"Is Big Brother Solas busy?"
Solas answered without a second thought, "Not busy." It was as if the pile of documents waiting for his attention in front of him didn't exist at all.
"Why, is something wrong?"
"I was just thinking that if you weren't busy, could you accompany me somewhere?" She knew perfectly well that it was impossible for him not to be busy, but at this moment, she just wanted him to come with her.
There was no other reason; she simply felt like it, so she said it.
"Of course. Where are you? I’ll come find you right now." He didn't even ask where she wanted him to go. Or rather, he didn't care where they went; all he cared about was being with her.
His tone even carried a hint of excitement.
"You don't have to come find me. I’ll pick you up; I’m not far from your company."
"Alright."
After hanging up, Solas used the intercom to call his assistant in.
"Mr. Sterling."
"I'm going out. Send these documents requiring my signature to my house; I’ll handle them later tonight."
The assistant had been with Solas for nearly eight years; he had been with him since Solas started his business. He had only ever seen Solas as a workaholic; this was the first time he had seen Solas abandon his work—especially so much of it—to leave.
He looked surprised.
But he didn't say a word.
"Yes, Mr. Sterling."
Solas didn't care how surprised his assistant was. He grabbed his phone, wallet, and jacket and left the office.
Even though Seraphina had said she would arrive in about half an hour when they hung up.
He hurried downstairs and waited in the lobby.
He wasn't sitting, either; he was standing right in the middle of the hall.
This startled the two young receptionists, who stood up abruptly and didn't dare sit back down. The staff members coming in and out were also unnerved, quickly standing still to greet him.
They were certainly curious about why their CEO was standing there, but no one dared ask, nor did they dare show the slightest hint of interest.
He stood there for over twenty minutes, and the two receptionists stood with him for twenty minutes. The staff coming and going remained tense for those twenty minutes as well.
In those twenty-odd minutes, the lobby was unnaturally silent.
Various guesses filled their minds.
If Solas hadn't looked like he was in a good mood, they would have thought something catastrophic was about to happen to the company.
Their CEO was behaving far too abnormally.
Well, the fact that he looked like he was in a good mood was also quite abnormal.
Their CEO wasn't prone to sudden outbursts of temper, but he wasn't usually one to wear a smile on his face either; he was simply polite and gentlemanly.
"Wearing a mask of indifference" was the perfect description for him.

But now, even though his smile wasn't very obvious, they could tell he was in a good mood.
How strange.
Suddenly, the CEO’s phone rang.
When he answered, his eyes—usually sparkling but cool—softened instantly. They couldn't hear what he said, nor did they dare to listen.
But seeing him walk out of the building after taking the call, they finally understood: he had been standing there for over twenty minutes just to wait for someone!
What kind of person had so much face that they could make their CEO wait in the lobby for so long!
Once Solas had completely left the building, someone finally dared to whisper some gossip.
It was the two young receptionists.
"Say, who do you think Mr. Sterling was waiting for?"
"I don't know, but as far as I know, there’s no one in Seahaven with enough face to make Mr. Sterling come down to wait so far in advance. Let alone standing up to wait. Even when the head of the Pierce family came to talk business last time, they went straight to the top floor. Even if Mr. Sterling is polite to Mr. Pierce, it’s a far cry from what happened today. It really makes me doubt the reality of what I just saw."
"If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I’d doubt it too. Heaven knows how nervous and scared I was; I didn't even dare sit down. My legs are stiff from standing still."
"Look, there's a car at the entrance. Mr. Sterling seems to be heading toward it; that must be the person he was waiting for."
As they spoke, the window of that car slowly rolled down.
It was too far away for them to see clearly, but it was obviously a woman!
The two receptionists looked at each other in shock.
They both understood the message in the other's eyes.
A woman?!
The person who made their CEO behave so abnormally was a woman!
"...Who do you think it could be?"
"I'm not sure, but I know a bit about cars. That car isn't something an ordinary person can afford; the person inside must be wealthy and beautiful. A beautiful heiress who has a connection with our CEO lately... there's only one."
"You mean... the Eldest Miss of the Pierce family?"
"Who else could it be?"
A person hurried out of the elevator and, happening to overhear the two receptionists, glared at them fiercely.
