"The Billionaire Can Read My Mind: My Runaway Wife is a Mystic" Chapter 35
Chapter 35: Plot Breakdown
Seren Thorne lowered the hand clutching her forehead.
Seeing the swollen bump on her brow, Alaric Vane finally couldn't help himself and burst into laughter.
Seren’s gaze was resentful. "What the hell are you laughing at?"
As soon as she spoke, she noticed the amusement in Alaric’s eyes grow even stronger. Seren realized belatedly that she seemed to have cursed herself in her frustration; her face flushed red, feeling a sense of powerlessness as if she wanted to vent but didn't know who to scold. She could only glare at Alaric indignantly.
Looking at her looking like a puffed-up pufferfish, Alaric couldn't resist reaching out to pinch her swollen cheek. To be honest, it was quite soft.
Being pinched for the first time made Seren extremely dissatisfied. Just as she was about to swat Alaric’s hand away, he had already pulled back on his own.
"I’ll go get some medicine to treat that bump. Wait here." After saying that, Alaric walked straight out of the ward.
After he left, the old man in the next bed couldn't help but smile like a doting elder. "Little Thorne, was that your boyfriend? You two certainly have a wonderful relationship."
Seren curled her lip and said, "We have no relationship at all; you’ve misunderstood."
Alaric was the heroine's exclusive devoted follower; there was no "affection" to speak of between her and Alaric.
Thinking of the heroine, Seren finally remembered her true purpose for tricking Alaric into coming here. She had been so busy bickering with him that she almost forgot her actual mission today.
Seren slipped out of bed and headed for the ward of the heroine's grandmother. She planned to find an excuse to bring the heroine back to her side before Alaric returned, allowing the two of them to meet. If they spent a little time together, maybe the sparks of love would finally ignite in Alaric’s heart?
The grandmother’s ward was on the same floor as Seren's. She had dipped into her secret stash today, surreptitiously slipping ten thousand yuan to the doctor just to have her ward arranged so close, all for the convenience of her plan.
Following the information Jasper Vane had found, she successfully located the room and peeked inside from the doorway. Several patients occupied the general ward, but Seren spotted the heroine at a single glance. There was no other reason than the fact that she was simply too beautiful—it felt like her art style was completely different from everyone else's.
{The heroine is truly stunning! The author really knows how to design a character. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve seen in this world so far; I take back what I said about the author being a cruel stepmother.}
Inside the ward, Evangeline Frost was massaging her grandmother’s legs. Suddenly, a strange female voice echoed in her ears. She looked around and finally locked her gaze on the woman peeking in from the doorway. However, that person hadn't opened her mouth, so she wasn't sure if the voice had come from her.

But in the next moment, she was certain. Because she heard the voice again: {Why did the heroine suddenly look over at me?}
{Holy mother of pearl, the heroine looks even more beautiful from the front! If I were a man, I’d fall for her too!}
{Hurry up and grow out!}
Evangeline: "?"
What was "growing out"? And why could she hear that girl's voice even though she clearly wasn't speaking?
While Evangeline was lost in confusion, she saw the bright and beautiful woman enter the room and walk straight toward her. The woman stopped in front of her and asked very politely, "Hello, Miss. Do you have a moment to help me with something? I have a slight injury on my back, and the doctor prescribed an ointment, but I can't reach it myself. I’d like to ask for your help."
Up close, Evangeline noticed that this woman’s skin was smooth and fair, like fine jade, with almost no visible pores. Although this girl said she was beautiful, Evangeline felt this girl was actually much prettier than herself.
"I have time. Can you wait until I finish massaging my grandmother's legs before I go with you?"
Seren nodded repeatedly. "Of course, of course."
{The heroine is so filial, gentle, and beautiful! How could the author be so heartless as to arrange so many female antagonists to mistreat her and even write her grandmother's death?}
{Wait... hold on. Isn't the plot where the grandmother dies supposed to happen after Alaric falls for her and Mabel Ruan starts framing her? Why has it suddenly jumped forward to this week? And the person responsible for killing the grandmother changed from Mabel Ruan to Jasmine Ji...}
{How did the plot suddenly become such a mess? The Ji family already knows that the heroine is the true heiress, and they’re coming to pick her up tonight.}
{And a few days after she returns, Jasmine Ji will blame the heroine for the male lead canceling their engagement. To vent her rage, she’ll cause the grandmother's death.}
As Seren organized the fate she saw on Evangeline Frost, her brow furrowed deeper and deeper. The change in the plot started with the male lead. Driven by some unknown force, the male lead suddenly canceled his engagement with the second female lead. At the same time, he recognized the heroine as his true savior and revealed the truth of her identity to the Ji family.
Everything was in chaos. Even the red thread of fate between the hero and heroine seemed to have snapped; the male lead didn't fall in love with her after finding out she was his savior, and he wouldn't have feelings for her in the future. What was even weirder was that Seren couldn't calculate the cause of all these changes.
It wasn't normal. It was far from normal.
As Seren fell into deep thought, she didn't notice that Evangeline’s expression had also undergone a slight change.

The Ji family had indeed contacted her today and provided a DNA test report, saying they would pick her up tonight. No one knew about this except for her and the Jis—how did this girl know? And what was this about heroes, heroines, and plots...
Could it be that the world she lived in was just a book?
Having received too much information in an instant, Evangeline felt quite disoriented. However, her main focus remained on one thing. This girl said the fake heiress of the Ji family would kill her grandmother. Whether it was true or not, she had to take precautions; she absolutely could not let anything happen to her grandmother.
Despite the storm raging in her heart, Evangeline showed no change in her expression. After finishing the massage, she walked back to the other ward with Seren.
While in the corridor, Seren suddenly spoke: "Miss Frost, I have something to tell you."
Evangeline stopped. "Go ahead."
Seren organized her words and said, "Actually, I'm a fortune teller. I’ve calculated that your grandmother might face a great disaster in the coming days. If you believe me, it’s best to transfer her to another hospital in advance and hire someone to watch her twenty-four hours a day. Otherwise, her life might be in danger."
After saying this, Seren felt that the heroine likely wouldn't believe her. After all, she sounded too much like a charlatan; no normal person would buy it. Just as she was about to bring up some details from the heroine's childhood to gain credibility, she heard Evangeline speak: "I believe you. Tomorrow when the doctors are on duty, I will transfer her immediately."
Evangeline felt that since she could even hear Seren’s inner thoughts, what else in this world was impossible? Perhaps Heaven simply couldn't bear to see her and her grandmother separated by death so soon, and thus sent Seren Thorne to her side to help them through this crisis.

Owned by the Devil
Rain hammered against the stone steps of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Mia Clarke backed away instinctively. One step. Then another. Until the cold stone hit her spine and there was nowhere left to go. The convoy had arrived less than thirty seconds ago. Black SUV. Headlights flooding the churchyard. Men in dark suits moving with military precision. And in the middle of all of it— him. Damien Lancaster stepped out of the car like violence wearing a tailored coat. He was devastatingly beautiful. That was the worst part. His looks weren't safe; his charm wasn't human. He was beautiful the way a loaded gun was beautiful: cold, polished, lethal. The priest tried to shield her. Two men pulled him aside instantly. Damien never even looked at them. His eyes stayed locked on Mia the entire time. She felt a sick twist in her stomach—she realized he was furious. Not a loud fury. Not rage. Something quieter. Something infinitely worse. It was the silence of a decision already made. In that quiet, he had already decided the fate of everyone here. “Mia.” Her name left his mouth softly. Almost gently. It frightened her more than a shout ever could. She turned to run. He caught her before she cleared the last step. One hand clamped around her wrist. The other dragged her hard against his chest. No hesitation. No softness. He smelled like rain, menthol smoke, and expensive whiskey. “Mia,” he repeated near her ear, his voice low enough that only she could hear it, “did you really think you could disappear from me?” She pushed against his chest with everything she had. “Let go of me.” That finally made him smile. Slowly. Beautifully. Wrong. “You vanished for eleven days,” he said quietly. “I stopped sleeping on day three.” The church bells rang overhead. Nobody moved. His men didn't even dare to breathe. Damien lowered his head slightly, forehead nearly touching hers. And in that terrifyingly intimate moment— she understood something too late. This man was not trying to win her back. He already believed she belonged to him. Forever.Dark Humor|Mutual Pining|Plot Twist|Yandere|Instant Marriage|Possessive Love|Redemption Arc|Sweet Romance|HE73.7k words5 36 -
