"The Billionaire Can Read My Mind: My Runaway Wife is a Mystic" Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Shut Your Brain Up
At this thought, Evangeline Frost’s gaze toward Seren Thorne softened considerably. "Thank you for telling me all this. I don't know your name yet. How should I address you?"
Seren hadn't expected Evangeline to believe her so easily; she was still a bit dazed. "My name is Seren Thorne."
"And I am Evangeline Frost." Evangeline shared her name and asked softly, "Miss Thorne, may I add you on WeChat? I might want to ask you for another fortune reading in the future, so it would be easier to stay in touch."
{Huh? The heroine really believes me that easily? I feel like when she gets old, she’ll be the type to immediately empty her pension the moment someone tells her a health supplement can cure everything.}
Seren took out her phone and exchanged contact information with Evangeline. Afterward, she didn't forget to remind her: "Miss Frost, I suggest you download an anti-fraud app on your phone. Alertness against scams starts with us."
Evangeline paused, then let out a gentle laugh. "Alright."
Seren was momentarily dazed by Evangeline’s smile.
{Ahhh! The heroine looks even better when she smiles!}
{So beautiful, it’s off the charts.}
Hearing her inner thoughts, Evangeline’s face instantly flushed. She finally realized what the "growing out" Seren had thought about earlier actually referred to.
Were people in the city all this uninhibited?
However, Miss Thorne was so beautiful and kind-hearted. If the other girl wanted to date her...
Evangeline patted her burning cheeks, shaking the improper thought that flashed through her mind. Just as she was about to speak, she saw a strange, noble-looking man approaching them with a dark face.
Even though the man was dressed in a high-end tailored suit and looked very refined, Evangeline still felt a heavy sense of danger and pressure from him, making her feel instinctively fearful.
Seren had her back turned to the man and didn't notice his approach. Fearing they were blocking his path and might cause trouble, Evangeline grabbed Seren’s hand to pull her toward the wall to make room.
{The heroine’s hand is so soft, and she smells so good. Heh, hehehe...}
Seren was still immersed in the heroine’s beauty when her wrist was suddenly grabbed, pulling her away from Evangeline.
Her back bumped against the man’s solid chest. Seren frowned and turned around, only to see Alaric Vane’s sour face. She immediately snapped, "What are you pulling me for? My hand is still injured."
Evangeline, seeing Seren being pulled away, worriedly wanted to pull her back. But seeing that the two seemed to know each other, she ultimately lowered her hand.
Alaric looked down at the dissatisfied woman in his arms and sneered. "You’re asking me why I’m pulling you? I was only gone for a few minutes, and you’ve already hooked up with someone outside!"
Seren: "?"
"Who did I hook up with?"

Alaric’s face was like frost; he didn't speak. He couldn't exactly tell Seren that he had heard her inner thoughts and knew she wanted to do all sorts of inappropriate things to the heroine.
Seeing him remain silent for a long while, Seren felt the "dog man" was being unreasonable again. "You petty men really love making a scene out of nothing. Let me go."
As she spoke, she tried to push Alaric’s hand away. However, Alaric was surprisingly strong. Not only did he not release her, but he also forcefully wrapped his arm around her waist, locking her tightly against him.
Seren was a bit bewildered. "Alaric Vane, did you take the wrong medicine?"
Otherwise, why would he suddenly go crazy and start playing the role of the "overbearing CEO forced love" trope?
Alaric didn't answer. He held her and prepared to return to the ward.
Seeing Seren about to leave, Evangeline asked, "Miss Thorne, do you still need me to help apply your medicine?"
Hearing her voice, Seren remembered her main task. She slipped out of Alaric’s arms when he relaxed his guard, turned back, and smiled at Evangeline. "Yes, yes, I’d appreciate the help."
{This dog man is so disappointing. The heroine is right in front of him, and yet he’s here tangling with an outsider like me.}
{Now that the main couple’s red string of fate is broken, this devoted lickspittle villain Alaric has finally found his chance.}
{Brother, seize the opportunity! Work hard, and you might just bring the beauty home!}
Alaric: I don’t want this opportunity, thank you.
Evangeline also heard Seren’s inner thoughts. She couldn't help but look at Alaric with a scrutinizing gaze.
This person liked her? But they had never met before, right?
She had only looked at Alaric for a few moments before he cast a cold, sharp glance back. Evangeline felt a sudden wave of fear and instinctively took a step back. This man's aura was too terrifying.
Compared to him, she much preferred Seren’s bright and lively personality. To avoid any unnecessary entanglements later, she said, "Sir, thank you for your affection, but I have no plans for a relationship for the time being. I'm truly sorry."
Alaric—who clearly didn't like her, had never confessed, and was literally speaking to the heroine for the first time: "..."
Fantastic.
Seren: {Holy crap, how did the heroine know Alaric likes her? Have the two of them met behind my back? Has Alaric already confessed?}
{The dog man is indeed as stubborn as a dead duck. Cold and abstinent on the outside, but a total closet perv on the inside. He’s probably thinking about the heroine all day long.}
Seren’s gaze flickered back and forth between the two, trying to calculate when they could have met. However, no matter how she tried, she couldn't find a single record of a prior meeting. She couldn't help but feel a bit discouraged.
{This world's magnetic field is definitely too strange; I can't calculate so many things.}
Alaric’s hand on Seren’s waist tightened slightly. He wished he could drag her back to the room right this second. Why was this woman’s logic so bizarre? He had already explained that he had zero interest in Evangeline Frost, but she treated his words like wind passing through her ears.
He took a deep breath to suppress his emotions and spoke to Evangeline with a distant, indifferent attitude: "Miss Frost misunderstood. I have no improper thoughts about you. Seren Thorne and I are already married. Her brain has some issues; you don't need to believe her."
Seren: "?"
{What did I even say? Why am I being dragged into this?}
Evangeline looked a bit embarrassed. "I’m sorry, I misunderstood."
After apologizing, she realized that Alaric could also hear Seren’s inner thoughts. The two of them made eye contact, but both reached a silent understanding and didn't voice it directly.
Caught between the two of them, Seren saw their eye contact as a subtle exchange of flirtatious glances.
{Oho! That look in their eyes... there’s definitely a spark!}
Alaric covered her mouth. "Shut your brain up."
Seren: "?"
Shut what brain? Is the big villain going insane?

Owned by the Devil
Rain hammered against the stone steps of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Mia Clarke backed away instinctively. One step. Then another. Until the cold stone hit her spine and there was nowhere left to go. The convoy had arrived less than thirty seconds ago. Black SUV. Headlights flooding the churchyard. Men in dark suits moving with military precision. And in the middle of all of it— him. Damien Lancaster stepped out of the car like violence wearing a tailored coat. He was devastatingly beautiful. That was the worst part. His looks weren't safe; his charm wasn't human. He was beautiful the way a loaded gun was beautiful: cold, polished, lethal. The priest tried to shield her. Two men pulled him aside instantly. Damien never even looked at them. His eyes stayed locked on Mia the entire time. She felt a sick twist in her stomach—she realized he was furious. Not a loud fury. Not rage. Something quieter. Something infinitely worse. It was the silence of a decision already made. In that quiet, he had already decided the fate of everyone here. “Mia.” Her name left his mouth softly. Almost gently. It frightened her more than a shout ever could. She turned to run. He caught her before she cleared the last step. One hand clamped around her wrist. The other dragged her hard against his chest. No hesitation. No softness. He smelled like rain, menthol smoke, and expensive whiskey. “Mia,” he repeated near her ear, his voice low enough that only she could hear it, “did you really think you could disappear from me?” She pushed against his chest with everything she had. “Let go of me.” That finally made him smile. Slowly. Beautifully. Wrong. “You vanished for eleven days,” he said quietly. “I stopped sleeping on day three.” The church bells rang overhead. Nobody moved. His men didn't even dare to breathe. Damien lowered his head slightly, forehead nearly touching hers. And in that terrifyingly intimate moment— she understood something too late. This man was not trying to win her back. He already believed she belonged to him. Forever.Dark Humor|Mutual Pining|Plot Twist|Yandere|Instant Marriage|Possessive Love|Redemption Arc|Sweet Romance|HE73.7k words5 36 -
