"The Billionaire Can Read My Mind: My Runaway Wife is a Mystic" Chapter 59
Chapter 59: Eating Melons
Jasper Vane ultimately couldn't suppress his desire for gossip. After dropping Seren Thorne off at the ancestral residence, he immediately hailed a taxi to the Ruan house, determined to be on the front lines of the drama.
On the way, he passed a supermarket and stopped in to buy some melon seeds and drinks, carrying them with him as he headed to the Ruan villa.
By the time he arrived, the commotion upstairs had just begun. The security guards at the villa entrance seemed to have gone up to help, so Jasper entered through the door without any resistance.
Reaching the second floor, he saw Mrs. Ruan grabbing Sweetie Ruan by the hair, screaming and cursing as she dragged her off the bed: "You little slut! I treated you like my own daughter, and you wanted to be my husband's concubine! You shameless thing!"
The Ruan family had burst in so suddenly that Sweetie hadn't even managed to put on clothes. She fell onto the floor completely naked, desperately explaining and begging Mrs. Ruan for mercy.
Jasper found it a bit much for his eyes. While covering his face with one hand, he couldn't help but complain: "It's obvious that old man Arthur Ruan made the first move on Sweetie, right? Mrs. Ruan shouldn't just hit the mistress; she should hit her man too!"
According to his Master, today's incident was clearly a case of that old geezer Arthur forcing himself on Sweetie. Though Sweetie hadn't resisted later out of self-interest, it was undeniable that it wasn't voluntary at the start. The primary responsibility lay with Arthur.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Ruan was convinced that Sweetie had seduced Arthur. She directed all her rage toward Sweetie, completely avoiding any physical confrontation with Arthur.
Watching from the side, Jasper felt like the melon seeds were making him feel heated. He almost wanted to roll up his sleeves and teach Arthur a lesson on behalf of the Ruans.
However, before he could act, Silas Ruan could no longer hold back.
From the moment he and his mother entered the room, his father had stood to the side as if nothing had happened, shifting all the blame onto Sweetie and accusing her of seducing him.
Silas had been enduring it at first, but after seeing his father—the one who committed the wrong—kick Sweetie along with his mother, he finally exploded. He swung a fist and slammed it right into Arthur’s face.
"You pervert! You’ve had impure thoughts about Sweetie since she was a child. How do you have the face to say she seduced you now!?"
"A rapist actually dares to hit someone! I’ll kill you!"
Silas’s punches hit hard. With two blows, he knocked out Arthur’s front teeth, leaving the man’s mouth full of blood.
He believed Seren Thorne’s words now. But even knowing that Sweetie would bring ruin to their family, she still held a certain status and weight in his heart. The thought of the woman he had loved for so many years being targeted by an old man like his father made him feel so disgusted he could kill.

Moreover, even if Arthur had coveted an ordinary woman instead of the person he loved, he would be equally enraged and disgusted.
Seeing her husband being beaten by her son, Mrs. Ruan ignored everything else. She immediately let go of Sweetie’s hair, threw her to the ground, and lunged forward to protect Arthur, screaming at Silas:
"Silas Ruan, what are you doing!? This is your biological father! It was clearly that little slut Sweetie who forgot her place and seduced him. How can you blame your father?"
Silas hadn't expected his mother, whom he had always viewed as gentle and reasonable, to blur right and wrong so thoroughly. He felt both disappointed and furious. "Mom, you have no idea! Dad has been plotting against Sweetie since she was little! He’s a total pervert!"
"He did this because he saw Sweetie was about to marry me and got jealous! He took advantage of my absence to make a move on her! He’s a complete bastard! Don't protect him!"
However, Mrs. Ruan didn't believe him at all. She insisted it was Sweetie who initiated the seduction and shielded Arthur relentlessly, even saying that if Silas dared to hit Arthur again, she would disown him as her son.
Seeing his mother reverse right and wrong like this, Silas was filled with rage and resentment, but he was powerless against Arthur.
Seeing that Silas was blocked by Mrs. Ruan and couldn't reach him, Arthur became arrogant again despite the blood in his mouth: "Your mother is right! It was Sweetie who seduced me!"
"If she didn't wander around the house in her nightgown all day, would I have looked at her? There are other maids in the house; why didn't I force myself on them? It’s because she’s a slut!"
Hearing this, Silas clenched his fists. He hadn't expected his father to resort to victim-blaming at a time like this.
On the other side, Sweetie, who had finally put on her clothes, could no longer take it. This old man had harassed her countless times over the years; she had been disgusted for a long time. Since everything was ruined anyway, she decided to break all pretenses. She rushed over and slapped Arthur across the face, cursing viciously:
"Seduce your mother! Both the eldest and second brothers are young and handsome; am I freaking blind that I’d seduce an old, sagging, ugly man like you!?"
"When I first came to the Ruan house at six years old, you tried to trick me into kissing you and wanted to get me into bed. If I hadn't been careful, I would have been finished long ago!"
Sweetie had always been on guard against Arthur’s proximity. Recently, because she was about to marry Silas, she thought that no matter how insane Arthur was, he wouldn't make a move on his own daughter-in-law. She had let her guard down, and then this happened today. At the thought of what just occurred, she wanted to kill him!

When Mrs. Ruan saw Sweetie hitting her man, she lost her temper too. She raised her hand and slapped her back, pointing at Sweetie and cursing: "Who gave you permission to hit my husband! You little wench! You've got some nerve!"
Sweetie was already aching all over from Mrs. Ruan’s earlier beating and was full of resentment. Receiving another slap made her snap completely. She reached out and grabbed Mrs. Ruan’s hair, ripping out a large clump and making Mrs. Ruan wail in pain.
"You old witch, do you think you're any better! You’ve probably noticed Arthur’s intentions long ago, haven't you? But because you rely on him for a living, you didn't dare offend him, so you just turned a blind eye and watched me get groped by this old thing!"
Seeing the two women fighting, Silas rushed in to break them up. However, Sweetie was in a killing frenzy now and didn't care who was in front of her; she hit anyone who approached.
To the side, Arthur tried to sneak away while the others were tearing into each other. Sweetie noticed his attempt to run, grabbed a mirror from the table, and smashed it over his head.
Arthur became enraged as well and turned back to scuffle with Sweetie. Silas saw Sweetie being beaten by his biological father and tried to help her, while Mrs. Ruan came back to help Arthur. The scene instantly dissolved into total chaos, and the security guards couldn't stop the fighting no matter how hard they tried.
No one noticed Jasper Vane, who had appeared at the door at some point.
Jasper sat there eating melon seeds, watching the farce before him with amazement. Who said a triangle was the most stable relationship? He thought this quadrilateral was pretty stable too. One hitting one, one protecting one—hilarious.
The family fought for over ten minutes without stopping to catch their breath. Even Jasper, the spectator, was getting tired of watching. He had finished the gossip he came for, and a bag of melon seeds was gone, so he simply clapped his hands and left.
Before leaving, he specifically took out his phone to call the police and contacted reporters to come over, intending to blow the whole thing wide open. Arthur was too disgusting; Jasper wouldn't feel satisfied unless he sent the man to prison for a few years.
Having done all this, he withdrew successfully and headed home.
The next morning, the filthy deeds Arthur Ruan committed against his adopted daughter made the front-page headlines, soaring to the number one trending topic in the city. It became the largest and most explosive piece of gossip in high society circles this month.
