"Unfaithful Bonds: Her Silent Revenge" Chapter 4: The Shock

Chapter 4: The Shock

The next day, I met with the lawyer at a café.

As he reviewed the prenuptial agreement between my husband and me, I gave him a general overview of our situation, including the fact that Julian was likely having an affair.

"Miss Sienna, this prenuptial agreement was likely drafted by a very prominent lawyer in the legal field. The clauses are heavily weighted to protect the husband's assets. When it comes to dividing marital property, you are likely to be at a disadvantage."

Although I had prepared myself mentally, hearing it confirmed still brought a surge of disbelief.

Does this mean Julian was already calculating against me the moment we got married?

Had he planned this all along? Was he just waiting for the day Lydia returned so he could divorce me immediately and marry her?

I didn't have time to dwell on it. I quickly asked, "What about my daughter's custody? Can I get her?"

Sebastian responded conservatively, "It should be possible. You’ve been the primary caregiver all these years. I have about a seventy percent confidence level in securing custody for you."

"Only seventy percent?" I asked, dissatisfied.

Sebastian glanced at me and said composedly, "No lawyer dares to give a hundred percent guarantee before a judge delivers a verdict. Anyone who tells you that you’re certain to win is lying."

For some reason, his bluntness actually calmed me down. It made me trust his professionalism even more.

I decided to hire him as my divorce lawyer.

To my surprise, Sebastian had already prepared a contract before meeting me.

He handed the document to me. While reaching into his suit pocket for a pen, he looked at me and said, "If you are certain about hiring me, please sign here."

"Alright," I replied. Watching his movements, I couldn't help but notice how refined he was. Every gesture he made exuded elegance and an air of quiet wealth.

Sebastian couldn't seem to find his pen. After searching for a while, he ended up pulling out his wallet first and placing it on the table.

As he began looking through his briefcase for the pen, I reached for my coffee. Curious to see if he’d find it, my eyes remained fixed on him.

My hand slipped, hitting the side of the cup. Coffee splashed directly onto his wallet.

"I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry..." I panicked, apologizing profusely as I grabbed his wallet and began dabbing it with a napkin.

To check if any coffee had leaked inside, I took the liberty of opening it. The moment I did, I discovered something staggering.

Inside Sebastian's wallet was a photograph of him and Lydia!

My mind raced with a single question—

What on earth is their relationship?

"I'll take that," Sebastian's voice pulled me back to reality.

I handed the wallet back to him with a forced smile. "Fortunately, it didn't get stained. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how to explain myself."

"It's a small matter. Don't worry about it," he said.

I called a server over to clean up the spill, and Sebastian produced a clean contract for me to sign.

As I handed the signed document back to him, I couldn't resist asking, "The girl in the photo... is she your girlfriend? She’s very beautiful."

Sebastian replied, "She is my fiancée."

"Fiancée?!"

I was utterly stunned.

Lydia was engaged?

And her fiancé was this handsome, brilliant, and successful lawyer standing right in front of me?

I couldn't fathom what Lydia was thinking. Why would she seduce my husband when she had such an incredible fiancé? Had she, like Julian, remained obsessed with her ex all these years they were apart?

I felt a wave of irony, but also a deep sense of sorrow.

However, I had no evidence yet. I couldn't just blurt out to a lawyer I had just met that his fiancée was having an affair.

I managed a smile. "Meeting me on a weekend... I hope I’m not ruining your quality time with your fiancée."

"Not at all. She’s away on a business trip," Sebastian said, his tone polite yet distant.

How convenient. Julian was on a "business trip," too.
