"Unfaithful Bonds: Her Silent Revenge" Chapter 10: Gathering Evidence
Chapter 10: Gathering Evidence
I walked toward him with a touch of awkwardness. "Mr. Sebastian, I..."
"What do you need?" He didn't seem interested in my explanations, cutting through my hesitation to ask directly.
"I’ve managed to get some evidence of my husband's infidelity, but it might not be strong enough."
"Let’s talk in the office."
With that, he turned and headed into the commercial building.
I followed him inside and into the elevator. Once we were in, he suddenly turned around. I nearly collided with him and instinctively stepped back, but Sebastian quickly caught me. "Miss Sienna, any further and the elevator doors will catch you."
Flustered, I moved away from him and stood on the left side of the elevator to create some space. "Thank you," I murmured.
Sebastian said nothing.
The lingering scent of his clean, crisp cologne drifted past my nose. It was an alluring scent, and I couldn't help but dwell on that brief, embrace-like moment for a second.
I felt like I was losing my mind, having such thoughts about Sebastian.
He was Lydia's fiancé. If Lydia slept with my husband and I seduced her fiancé, what would make me any different from her?
I forced myself to stay calm.
Once inside the office, Sebastian asked, "What evidence do you have?"
I showed him the messages from the night before and the video of Julian’s phone call with Lydia.
He looked at the phone screen I had photographed, noting the contact name "Lydie." He pursed his lips. "Lydie? The woman your husband is seeing shares a name with my fiancée."
My heart was in a knot. I struggled with whether or not to tell him outright:
That is your fiancée.
Since he had seen it, why hadn't he connected the dots? Aren't lawyers supposed to be incredibly sharp?
"This evidence isn't enough," Sebastian concluded eventually.
I nodded. "I know. That’s why I want to ask you to come to the park with me this afternoon to catch them in the act."
Sebastian arched an eyebrow and smiled. "Usually, 'catching them in the act' happens in a bedroom, doesn't it?"
His smile made me feel a bit lightheaded. I steadied myself and explained, "I mean, we can go to the park and listen to what they have to say. That way, you can testify for me and prove I'm not maliciously framing them."
Sebastian nodded. "Alright."
As I was leaving his office, I heard him make a call. "Find someone for me. Have her go to..."
I didn't catch the location, nor did I care. Sebastian was likely dealing with another client; it had nothing to do with me.
What I cared about—what I was eagerly anticipating—was the spectacular performance Julian and Lydia would put on this afternoon.
After leaving the firm, I wandered around a shopping mall.
I didn't want to go back to the home I shared with Julian; the moment I stepped through that door, I felt suffocated. After browsing the shops, I found a restaurant and ate alone. Finally, afternoon arrived. Sebastian drove over to pick me up, and we headed to the seaside park where Julian and Lydia had agreed to meet.
As we got out of the car, I looked at Sebastian and asked, "You've been investigating my husband for so long... do you know who he's having the affair with?"
He countered with a question, "Why do you ask?"
"Just curious."
"We're already here. Won't we find out in a moment?"
With that, a slight smile played on his lips.
At that moment, I couldn't guess how the usually calm and rational Sebastian would react upon discovering his fiancée was cheating, but I felt he was deeply deserving of sympathy.
I spotted Julian and Lydia quickly, though Sebastian hadn't seen them yet.
I pulled Sebastian behind a large tree near them. "I see my husband. But... the woman with him looks exactly like your fiancée."
Sebastian's expression didn't change at all upon hearing my words.
He turned his head and looked directly at them.
Oh no,
I thought.
This is it.
I watched Sebastian cautiously, but found no difference in his expression from before. On the contrary, he simply instructed me: "Record the video. Gather the evidence."
The man's mental strength was formidable.
I did as I was told, pulling out my phone to record.
As I watched the scene through my screen, I heard the conversation between Lydia and my husband.
Lydia couldn't hide the joy in her voice. "Julian, I'm so happy. I never imagined I'd carry your child. Are you still willing to take me away, just like you were on the night before you married Sienna five years ago?"
My world exploded in an instant.
Five years ago...
On the night before our wedding, Julian had met with Lydia and offered to run away with her?
