"The Sickly CEO’s Shared Senses" Chapter 13
Chapter 13: Sorry to Intrude
"Why do you look so listless? Didn't you rest well last night?"
In the afternoon, the entire city of Cloud River felt like a giant furnace.
Sitting in a private booth at the Huaiyuan Residence restaurant, Tara was so drowsy she could barely grip her chopsticks.
It wasn't until she heard Sean's voice that she forced herself to perk up slightly.
"Sean, has your studio been very busy lately?"
Sean poured her a glass of orange juice to help wake her up, looking puzzled. "It's alright. Why the sudden interest?"
Why the sudden interest?
Tara rubbed her temples in discomfort.
It was all because Killian had been staying up late almost every single night recently. This had left her suffering from sleep deprivation, a splitting headache, and mental exhaustion through their shared connection.
She had no idea what he was so busy with.
But no matter how busy one is, there's no reason to pull all-nighters every day. How could his—and by extension, her—body handle that in the long run? What if he collapsed from exhaustion?
If Sean and Killian really were in
that
kind of relationship...
Tara looked at Sean with disapproval and muttered under her breath, "Sean, you really don't know how to look after people."
Sean didn't quite catch her. "What?"
"Nothing."
Sitting around waiting wasn't the answer; Tara decided she had to take the initiative.
Besides, if Killian really was her "sister-in-law," then they were all family. Wasn't it perfectly reasonable for her to care about her sister-in-law's well-being?
"Sean, you shouldn't be too busy today, right? Can I go visit your company?"
Half an hour later, on Jinjiang Road.
Tara looked up blankly at the office building before her, which was by no means small.
On the top floor, the prominent "Galaxy" logo hung high, exuding a certain sense of dominance.
Tara felt she was going crazy.
"Sean, didn't you say you opened a small company?"
"It is a small company," Sean said lazily. "Galaxy is just starting out, so there’s no need for the headquarters' configuration to be too grand yet."
"However, once the company expands, we'll pick a better location to move to."
This configuration wasn't grand?
While Jinjiang Road was a bit far from the city center, the surrounding environment was excellent and transportation was convenient.
Moreover, considering this entire building, the renovations, and the facilities, it must have cost tens of millions, if not a hundred million.
Even if they only rented a few floors, it wouldn't be cheap.
Tara's expression was complicated.
Sean was a computer genius who had made money through his talent since he was young. It was true he wasn't short on cash, but he shouldn't be
this
wealthy, right?
But it was said that Killian was also a computer prodigy, and his family background wasn't simple either.

Since this was a company they started together, then...
Was her brother living off a "sugar partner"?
"Kid, what kind of nonsense are you thinking about now?"
Sean looked at Tara's theatrical expressions and asked with a dangerous squint.
"N-Nothing." Tara felt guilty.
"Tsk," Sean placed his hand on her head somewhat vengefully, messing up her soft hair. "Stinky brat, remember to hide your expression better next time you lie."
Having said that, he grabbed her wrist and strode into the company.
"Hello, Boss!"
"Oh, Boss, who is this..."
Many floors of the office building were still empty. It wasn't until they reached the thirteenth floor that more people appeared.
Of course, it wasn't a huge crowd.
Seeing Tara following behind Sean, many people showed surprised and meaningful expressions.
"This is my sister, Tara. Take her around the company."
After Sean spoke to Jill from the HR department, he turned back to Tara.
"I have some business to handle with Killian. You play for a bit. If you have any questions, you can ask Jill, okay?"
It would be abnormal for a big boss not to be busy.
Tara nodded obediently. "Okay."
Sean rubbed her head with a smile and left.
After seeing off the boss, Jill retracted her gaze and looked at Tara with a beaming smile. "Miss, are you thirsty? Would you like some..."
She stared at Tara’s exquisite and cute face for two seconds before continuing with a perfect smile and a gentle tone, "Would you like some milk?"
Tara: "..."
Why do I feel like I'm being coaxed like a toddler?
I'm nineteen already!
Tara shook her head and smiled politely. "Thank you, Jill. I'm not thirsty. Also, you can just call me Tara."
She looked sweet and soft, her voice was sweet and soft, and she was incredibly polite. Being called "big sister" made Jill feel like her heart was melting!
Who would have thought Boss Sean had such a sister?
She was the polar opposite of Sean, whose temper made people feel like he was going to flip their lids!
"Oh, you're welcome! There are plenty of snacks in the break area. Tara, do you want some snacks? I can take you on a tour while we eat~"
"What?
New Space Era
was made by your company?"
An hour later, Tara had basically understood the overall status of Galaxy.
What surprised her most was that the game
New Space Era
was produced by Galaxy.
One had to know that this game took the world by storm two years ago, breaking the record for the highest number of downloads for a single-player game in history, and it was still praised by players today.
"Haha, it wasn't exactly made by our company, but in a way, it was."
Jill spoke with an admiring expression, "Actually, that game was created entirely by Boss Killian alone. He had just started university then, and Galaxy hadn't been founded yet."
"But it was because that game became a massive hit and earned enough capital that Galaxy exists today."
Speaking of this, Jill gave a faint sigh amidst her pride.
Tara, being sensitive to it, couldn't help asking, "Is the company facing some difficulties?"
"Many," Jill said helplessly. "The success of
New Space Era
was too brilliant. Many people tried to recruit Boss Killian back then, but he only wanted to go solo, which inevitably offended many people."
"Come to think of it, the reason we haven't been able to recruit the right talent lately is partly because of that. The dirty, underhanded tactics used against us..."
Jill got carried away talking, but stopped abruptly when she saw Tara's bright, clean eyes.
"Anyway, it’s just some very dishonorable methods."
She gave Tara a gentle smile. "You're just a kid; it's better if you don't hear about these things."
Tara: "..."
She said gloomily, "I'm an adult."
Of course, even if Jill didn't continue, Tara knew they must be very malicious tactics.
After all, business competition was sometimes a war without smoke, and it was exceptionally cruel.
No wonder Killian had been suffering from insomnia and forgetting to eat or sleep lately.
Her stomach felt empty right now; without a doubt, Killian hadn't eaten lunch today either.
Tara thought for a moment and decided to make things a little better for him—and herself.
Thus, half an hour later.
Tara carried a specially purchased lunch and knocked on the door of the Chief Planner's office.
"Come in."
Sean's voice came through, sounding slightly irritable and annoyed.
Tara hesitated for a moment before opening the door.
She was about to step inside when she froze at the scene before her.
Killian was leaning slightly in his swivel chair, his handsome brows knitted, his face flushed with a slight redness, his thin lips were wet, and his breathing was ragged and unsteady.
On the other hand, Sean’s clothes were disheveled, his face was covered in a thin layer of "sweat," a patch of his clothes was suspiciously wet, and his gaze was fierce and angry. It looked very much as if they were...
Tara immediately covered her eyes, her cheeks flushing hot. "S-Sorry! Sorry to intrude!"
With that, she fled and slammed the office door shut with a "Bang."
Killian: "?"
Sean: "???"

Owned by the Devil
Rain hammered against the stone steps of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Mia Clarke backed away instinctively. One step. Then another. Until the cold stone hit her spine and there was nowhere left to go. The convoy had arrived less than thirty seconds ago. Black SUV. Headlights flooding the churchyard. Men in dark suits moving with military precision. And in the middle of all of it— him. Damien Lancaster stepped out of the car like violence wearing a tailored coat. He was devastatingly beautiful. That was the worst part. His looks weren't safe; his charm wasn't human. He was beautiful the way a loaded gun was beautiful: cold, polished, lethal. The priest tried to shield her. Two men pulled him aside instantly. Damien never even looked at them. His eyes stayed locked on Mia the entire time. She felt a sick twist in her stomach—she realized he was furious. Not a loud fury. Not rage. Something quieter. Something infinitely worse. It was the silence of a decision already made. In that quiet, he had already decided the fate of everyone here. “Mia.” Her name left his mouth softly. Almost gently. It frightened her more than a shout ever could. She turned to run. He caught her before she cleared the last step. One hand clamped around her wrist. The other dragged her hard against his chest. No hesitation. No softness. He smelled like rain, menthol smoke, and expensive whiskey. “Mia,” he repeated near her ear, his voice low enough that only she could hear it, “did you really think you could disappear from me?” She pushed against his chest with everything she had. “Let go of me.” That finally made him smile. Slowly. Beautifully. Wrong. “You vanished for eleven days,” he said quietly. “I stopped sleeping on day three.” The church bells rang overhead. Nobody moved. His men didn't even dare to breathe. Damien lowered his head slightly, forehead nearly touching hers. And in that terrifyingly intimate moment— she understood something too late. This man was not trying to win her back. He already believed she belonged to him. Forever.Dark Humor|Mutual Pining|Plot Twist|Yandere|Instant Marriage|Possessive Love|Redemption Arc|Sweet Romance|HE73.7k words5 89 -
