"The Sickly CEO’s Shared Senses" Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Close-Range Intervention
[Kid, why did you run off on your own?]
[What did you mean by that earlier?]
[I'm a straight man, dammit! Your brother Killian and I aren't in that kind of relationship, OK?]
[If you dare think about that nonsense again, believe me, I'll clobber you.]
Tara curled her lip as she listened to the barrage of voice messages from Sean on her phone.
An explanation is just a cover-up, and a cover-up is the truth!
She had caught them red-handed!
He was probably just afraid she would go back and tell her parents.
He definitely wasn't ready to come out to the family yet. She understood~
After all, if her parents found out he was gay, they would surely break his legs and kick him out of the house.
Tara sent a tongue-poking emoji and turned off her phone to continue working on her resume.
Josie, who happened to pass by, stopped and said in surprise, "Tara, are you looking for a job?"
Hearing this, Cassie and Daisy also looked over.
Tara nodded. "Mhm. My brother's company is short on artists recently, so I want to try applying."
Of course, applying to be an artist wasn't her main goal.
Sean and Killian's lifestyle habits and daily routines were, frankly, a mess.
Expecting Sean, the "partner," to take care of Killian was probably a lost cause. Killian's physical condition would only get worse.
And since the shared senses might never be broken, Tara didn't want to suffer along with Killian for the rest of her life.
Therefore, her only choice was close-range intervention.
Josie was surprised. "Galaxy?"
Tara nodded again.
"Holy crap!" Josie suddenly got excited. "Galaxy is hiring?"
Tara nodded. "They've been hiring for a while now~"
"Ahhh, I want to go too!"
Cassie and Daisy also crowded around.
"Us too!"
"Where is the company? Is it near our school?"
"What are the education requirements? How's the pay? Is food and housing included?"
Tara: "..."
"CEO, these are the resumes that Boss Sean pre-screened. Please have a look."
At the Galaxy studio.
Killian took the resumes from Jill. The moment he looked down, he saw a familiar name.
"Tara~" He narrowed his eyes and whispered the name.
Jill had been keeping quiet, but seeing this, she couldn't help chiming in.
"Miss Tara’s resume is excellent. Boss Sean mentioned that you would probably like her art style."
Killian didn't speak, quietly reviewing the resume.
Galaxy's artist applications required attached works.
Following Tara's resume were many outstanding, award-winning pieces.
There were school-level, provincial-level, and even national-level awards.
Most importantly, this unique and exceptionally versatile art style...
Looking at these works, the image of the blogger named [BegoniaDrizzle] he had browsed the other day suddenly flashed in Killian's mind.
"Notify her to come for an interview tomorrow," Killian said calmly.
Jill couldn't help her lips curling up. "Yes, CEO."

Meanwhile, in a studio at the University of Cloud River Art Department.
Killian: [I’ve looked at your resume.]
In the studio, Tara put down her brush. Seeing this WeChat message, she felt nervous.
Tara: [How is it? Do I meet the requirements?]
Regarding this question, Killian gave an irrelevant answer: [You’re only a sophomore. Your classes should be quite busy. Do you have time to work?]
Tara blinked and replied quickly: [I can find substitutes for classes or take leave. I promise I definitely won't let it affect my work!]
After this message was sent, Killian didn't reply immediately.
Tara's mood suddenly plummeted.
No reply... does that mean I'm being passed over?
However, just as she was thinking that, a voice call from Killian came through in the next second.
Tara was startled out of her wits. After a second of shock, she immediately ran out of the studio to answer.
"Hello, Killian?"
"Mhm."
His deep, magnetic voice fell into her ear like a tiny electric current, making her eardrums tingle slightly.
It's a pity he's not a voice actor,
Tara thought silently while rubbing her ear.
Just then, Killian's voice came through the phone again: "Your art style is very unique. I originally wanted you to be the lead artist for a major upcoming project."
Hearing this, Tara was surprised and delighted. "Ah, really?"
"But..."
Killian stated calmly, "An artist's tasks are heavy. Once a game project starts, it requires a lot of time and energy. You're only a sophomore, and major exams are unavoidable. You should focus on your studies and consider this in your junior year."
Tara's face instantly fell again.
But just as she was feeling downcast...
Killian: "However, the company has a small-scale otome game project about to start. The time requirements are more flexible and relaxed. Your style is very suitable for this game. If you're interested, you can come to see Jill tomorrow morning to sign an employment contract."
Tara hadn't expected this turnaround at all.
The moment she realized what happened, she couldn't help but cheer excitedly. "Really? That's great! I'll definitely come early tomorrow. Thank you, Killian!"
Hearing the young girl's happy voice, the scene of a little rabbit twitching its fluffy ears inexplicably popped into Killian's mind.
A faint, barely perceptible smile touched his lips.
"Mhm. I have things to do. Hanging up now."
Tara had originally planned to tell Josie and the others the good news when she got back that evening.
But by the time she returned, Daisy was already asleep, while Josie and Cassie hadn't returned all night. Even her messages went unreplied.
The next time Tara saw the two of them was the following day when she went to Galaxy to sign her contract.
Tara looked at them in shock. "Wait, you two were hired too?"
Josie grinned and reached out to put an arm around her shoulder. "Yep! Killian said our styles were similar to yours, so he hired us as assistant artists for you!"
After she finished, she happily pinched Tara's soft cheek. "It's all thanks to our Tara being excellent enough. It feels so good to be carried!"
Cassie agreed. "Tell you what, although Galaxy isn't famous yet, the benefits are really good. High salary, food and housing included, strictly weekends off with no overtime, and the perks are amazing!"
Tara let them pinch her cheeks, then remembered something and asked, "What about Daisy? Was she hired?"
Following her question, both Josie and Cassie froze.
"Don't know~"
"She wasn't hired."
As the three were talking, Sean suddenly pushed the door open and walked in.
"Sean," Tara called out to him, then asked in confusion, "Why wasn't she hired?"
"Oh, her resume was poor and her skill level wasn't enough. She didn't meet the company's requirements," Sean said casually. "I filtered her out in the first round."
He was so blunt that the three of them fell silent, feeling sorry for Daisy in their hearts.
"Alright, don't feel bad. If she works hard to improve, she'll have another chance in the future."
After Sean finished, he handed three sets of breakfast to Tara and said warmly, "Coming so early, you haven't eaten breakfast, have you? Here~"
Tara reached out to take them, then remembered something and asked, "Have you and Killian eaten?"
Sean said indifferently, "I've eaten. Killian practices 'asceticism'; immortals generally don't eat."
Tara: "..."
Seriously, how are you acting as his partner?

Owned by the Devil
Rain hammered against the stone steps of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Mia Clarke backed away instinctively. One step. Then another. Until the cold stone hit her spine and there was nowhere left to go. The convoy had arrived less than thirty seconds ago. Black SUV. Headlights flooding the churchyard. Men in dark suits moving with military precision. And in the middle of all of it— him. Damien Lancaster stepped out of the car like violence wearing a tailored coat. He was devastatingly beautiful. That was the worst part. His looks weren't safe; his charm wasn't human. He was beautiful the way a loaded gun was beautiful: cold, polished, lethal. The priest tried to shield her. Two men pulled him aside instantly. Damien never even looked at them. His eyes stayed locked on Mia the entire time. She felt a sick twist in her stomach—she realized he was furious. Not a loud fury. Not rage. Something quieter. Something infinitely worse. It was the silence of a decision already made. In that quiet, he had already decided the fate of everyone here. “Mia.” Her name left his mouth softly. Almost gently. It frightened her more than a shout ever could. She turned to run. He caught her before she cleared the last step. One hand clamped around her wrist. The other dragged her hard against his chest. No hesitation. No softness. He smelled like rain, menthol smoke, and expensive whiskey. “Mia,” he repeated near her ear, his voice low enough that only she could hear it, “did you really think you could disappear from me?” She pushed against his chest with everything she had. “Let go of me.” That finally made him smile. Slowly. Beautifully. Wrong. “You vanished for eleven days,” he said quietly. “I stopped sleeping on day three.” The church bells rang overhead. Nobody moved. His men didn't even dare to breathe. Damien lowered his head slightly, forehead nearly touching hers. And in that terrifyingly intimate moment— she understood something too late. This man was not trying to win her back. He already believed she belonged to him. Forever.Dark Humor|Mutual Pining|Plot Twist|Yandere|Instant Marriage|Possessive Love|Redemption Arc|Sweet Romance|HE73.7k words5 89 -
