"Forbidden Pulse: Don't, Uncle!" Chapter 50
Chapter 50: What Foolish Words Are You Saying?
Not long after Willow Avery accompanied the medical staff to push Julian Kingston into the emergency room, Grandpa Sterling hurried over.
"Willa."
"Grandpa Sterling."
Willow's entire body was trembling.
With weak legs, she stumbled to Grandpa Sterling's side, tears welling up and spinning in her eyes. "Uncle Julian, he..."
"Don't panic," Grandpa Sterling supported her. "Julian is a doctor; he knows how to protect himself. But what about you? Have you gone to get checked yet?"
"Uncle Liu," he looked toward the butler following behind him, "take Willa to have a comprehensive examination."
"Grandpa Sterling, I'm fine," Willow shook her head. "I'll wait here for Uncle Julian to come out. If it weren't for me, he wouldn't have been injured this severely."
Seeing her stubborn appearance, Grandpa Sterling let out a sigh.
"Willa, be good, listen to Grandpa. Some internal injuries cannot be seen at the time. Julian has already entered the emergency room, don't make me worry."
Without waiting for Willow's reply, he made a gesture to the butler.
The butler understood and led Willow away to do the examination.
Willow kept Julian on her mind. She finished the items at lightning speed and trotted back to the entrance of the emergency room.
It was still in the middle of surgery.
Grandpa Sterling sat on a bench, his usually high-spirited face now revealing a hint of gray and pallor.
Willow lightened her footsteps as she walked over, silently sitting down beside him.
Her hands resting in front of her couldn't help but clench tightly. Her throat felt as if it were stuffed with cotton, choking her intensely.
After a while, she became somewhat restless and looked toward the butler. "Uncle Liu, how long has Uncle Julian been inside?"
The butler glanced at his wristwatch. "An hour."
Willow forced herself to be calm. "Mm."
Her uncle was injured quite severely; an hour wasn't considered long.
Very soon, she asked once more, "Uncle Liu, what time is it?"
"Don't be anxious," the butler looked at her with concern. "Only ten minutes have passed."
Only ten minutes...
Willow bit her lip anxiously.
But how come she felt an hour had already passed.
She suppressed her impatience and waited a while longer.
"Uncle Liu..."
"Miss Avery, this time only five minutes have passed."
Uncle Liu glanced at Grandpa Sterling and said, "Rest assured, the Master arranged the best doctors. Although Master Julian is the most severely injured among you, he will definitely be fine."
Seeing Willow's emotional state was off, Grandpa Sterling spoke up to shift her attention: "Have you eaten dinner? I'll have Uncle Liu go buy some."
"I'm not hungry, Grandpa Sterling."
While Willow spoke, her eyes remained fixed tightly on the emergency room.
This time, a long time passed.
The door to the emergency room finally opened.
Willow hurriedly rose and welcomed them. "Doctor, how is he?"

"Mr. Kingston is in good condition. He will go to the ICU to be observed for a night, and if there are no abnormalities, he will be transferred to a general ward tomorrow."
Only now did Willow's tense body relax.
"That's great..."
She took two steps back, the view in front of her eyes blurring, and she fell toward the floor.
The butler hurriedly stepped forward to catch her. "Miss Avery!"
Grandpa Sterling was startled. "How were the results of Willa's examination? Did she injure her internal organs?"
"No," the butler shook his head. "Miss Avery isn't injured. It might be low blood sugar. Shall I arrange for her to be hospitalized?"
"Mm."
Grandpa Sterling wasn't reassured. "Have the doctor check her over one more time, lest some oversight occurs."
At this time, Julian happened to be wheeled out.
Looking at his son's pale face, he said sternly:
"Go investigate exactly what happened with tonight's car accident."
The two of them weren't people to fool around; how could they have such a severe car accident.
"Yes."
The butler acknowledged and left.
...
Willow carried matters on her mind, and the moment she had a bit of consciousness, she opened her eyes.
Glancing out the window, the color of the sky was still dark.
Bracing her arms to sit up, a pain traveled from the back of her hand.
She was hooked up to an IV drip, and her movement just now had directly caused the needle to dislodge and swell.
Anxious about Julian, she yanked out the needle, got out of bed, and left the ward.
Locating the position of the ICU, she waited outside for an entire night.
During this time, a nurse came over to persuade her, but seeing her resolute attitude, she let it drop.
Enduring until daybreak, the doctors evaluated and transferred Julian into a general ward.
Willow followed behind the moving hospital bed, her line of sight tightly fixing on the man whose eyes were closed fast.
The doctor looked toward Willow, whose face was filled with worry. "Mr. Kingston ought to wake up by the afternoon."
"Alright, thank you."
Willow inquired about Julian's injuries. "Aside from his back and forehead, where else is he injured?"
"There's also his calf," the doctor instructed her. "When looking after him afterward, pay more attention."
"Okay." Willow wanted to look for her phone to take down a memo, only to react that her phone was ruined.
She went to the nurse's station to ask for paper and a pen, then asked the doctor earnestly, noting down the precautionary items.
Just as she finished writing, Grandpa Sterling walked over bringing a traffic police officer.
"Willa, Julian and the taxi driver are both unconscious. Speak with the officer about what the situation was at the time."
Willow nodded.
"I was sitting in the back seat of the car, just intending to reply to Grandpa Sterling's message, when suddenly a BMW came charging over from the side. The first time it didn't hit us, but it struck a second time. Uncle Julian said that person did it on purpose and told the driver to unlock the car doors and jump out."

"Just at this time, a cargo truck suddenly crashed over from the side... In the end, Uncle Julian protected me."
The traffic police officer finished making the notes and said, "The perpetrator, Miss Hayes, claims she only got her driver's license recently, and there were too many cars on the road. She grew tense for a moment and stepped on the gas thinking it was the brake."
"We have investigated her dashcam, and it is indeed exactly as she stated; she was screaming in fear all along."
Willow lowered her eyelashes. "Then could she possibly be acting?"
Grandpa Sterling originally wanted to ask Willow about matters regarding Luna Hayes, but seeing the expression on her face, he still shifted the topic: "Willa, how come you went to a club with Julian yesterday?"
Bringing this up, Willow found a random excuse. "Uncle Julian probably wanted to take me out to see the world."
She couldn't very well say that the two of them drank alcohol at the club, her uncle was a bit drunk, and impulsively pressed her into the sofa...
Listening to this reason, Grandpa Sterling instantly flew into a rage.
"His brain is truly broken, to actually take you to a club! Just wait until he wakes up and see how I teach him a lesson!"
Willow hadn't expected the randomly pulled excuse would actually cause a reverse effect. "No, Grandpa Sterling, it's not what you think..."
"Alright, you don't need to speak up for him, I'm not old and muddled yet," Grandpa Sterling waved his hand. "In a bit I'll have Uncle Liu send food over. You eat first, and I'll go discuss things further with the traffic police."
Willow still wanted to explain, but Grandpa Sterling had already left.
There was nothing for it; she could only clarify it next time she had an opportunity.
She turned around and went back to the ward where Julian was located.
Before long, the butler sent food over.
After Willow expressed her thanks, she set it aside on the nightstand.
Her uncle hadn't woken up; she couldn't eat.
All the way until afternoon, Julian still showed no sign of waking up.
Her heart was panicking incessantly, and she could only stare at the electrocardiogram monitor to comfort herself.
After five minutes passed, she couldn't wait any longer and fetched the doctor.
After the doctor performed an examination, he consoled her not to be too tense.
They left, and the ward became empty once more.
Willow crouched and sat by the bedside, helplessly holding Julian's hand.
"Uncle Julian, why aren't you waking up yet?" Her voice caught a crying tone. "I'm so scared."
She had seen news about car accidents causing vegetative states and the like.
She was very afraid he would turn out like that too.
"If you hadn't shielded me, you wouldn't have suffered such severe injuries either. It's all my fault; if my reaction on the car had been quicker at the time..."
Looking at him unconscious, the rims of her eyes ached intensely, and her heart also felt exceptionally uncomfortable.
Back then Julian was drunk, and it was also her first time encountering a car accident; her mind had been a bit dazed.
After this, she must absolutely cram safety knowledge.
Next time there was an accident, she would absolutely be able to react in time.
The force of her touching Julian grew a bit heavier, and she said uncomfortably:
"If only I could have been injured instead of you..."
Suddenly, the hand held within her palm moved slightly.
The man's weak voice sounded immediately after:
"What foolish words are you saying?"

CompletedChapter 66
Owned by the Devil
Rain hammered against the stone steps of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Mia Clarke backed away instinctively. One step. Then another. Until the cold stone hit her spine and there was nowhere left to go. The convoy had arrived less than thirty seconds ago. Black SUV. Headlights flooding the churchyard. Men in dark suits moving with military precision. And in the middle of all of it— him. Damien Lancaster stepped out of the car like violence wearing a tailored coat. He was devastatingly beautiful. That was the worst part. His looks weren't safe; his charm wasn't human. He was beautiful the way a loaded gun was beautiful: cold, polished, lethal. The priest tried to shield her. Two men pulled him aside instantly. Damien never even looked at them. His eyes stayed locked on Mia the entire time. She felt a sick twist in her stomach—she realized he was furious. Not a loud fury. Not rage. Something quieter. Something infinitely worse. It was the silence of a decision already made. In that quiet, he had already decided the fate of everyone here. “Mia.” Her name left his mouth softly. Almost gently. It frightened her more than a shout ever could. She turned to run. He caught her before she cleared the last step. One hand clamped around her wrist. The other dragged her hard against his chest. No hesitation. No softness. He smelled like rain, menthol smoke, and expensive whiskey. “Mia,” he repeated near her ear, his voice low enough that only she could hear it, “did you really think you could disappear from me?” She pushed against his chest with everything she had. “Let go of me.” That finally made him smile. Slowly. Beautifully. Wrong. “You vanished for eleven days,” he said quietly. “I stopped sleeping on day three.” The church bells rang overhead. Nobody moved. His men didn't even dare to breathe. Damien lowered his head slightly, forehead nearly touching hers. And in that terrifyingly intimate moment— she understood something too late. This man was not trying to win her back. He already believed she belonged to him. Forever.Dark Humor|Mutual Pining|Plot Twist|Yandere|Instant Marriage|Possessive Love|Redemption Arc|Sweet Romance|HE73.7k words5 45
