"Rejected by the Alpha" Chapter 18
Blake’s POV~ still~~
Jolene and Lynette had gone back to check on Gus.. then to fix snacks for us. Jolene refuses to trust anyone in this pack.. not even to bring the twenty of us bottles of water! Lynette came back.. leaving Liam with Jolene.. She says “I love that girl! The shit that comes out of her mouth! Then she looks at you like ‘wha’?’ She’s too much! The cook was bitching about her invading his kitchen and she just told him to move. He made some remark about a little girl not knowing her way around the kitchen and she bounced his face off the stovetop.. mumbling something about being a five star chef with a three star Michelin restaurant of her own and she’d dance circles around his fat ass in the kitchen if he didn’t take up so much space! I fucking lost it and she just asks what? “ I laughed because that is exactly something she would say!
Damien looked at Jacob, again “Tell me why you would even care if Jolene had a baby, rapist.. I mean, Jacob.. sorry” and I told him you’re not.. to which he laughed and agreed! Jacob answers “because it would be my kid!” We all nod… then I asked “and if it’s a girl?” He sneered “why would I care about a girl? That’s just stupid!”
Liam comes in.. pushing a food cart.. and I whisper to Damien ‘watch this’ I smile “Hey baby! What’s for lunch?” She looks up and says “They have no bread! What kind of pack house has no fucking bread? So, I made Hasselback Tomato Club sandwiches..with southwestern pork pasta salad and ghorayeba for dessert.” Lynette said “This little girl is magic!” Then she said “I made enough to feed the three leeches but I don’t have to be happy about it.”
Tyler asked “How did you make sandwiches without bread?” She rolled her eyes and mumbled ‘everything has to be explained here.. were they always this ignorant?’ And we all said at the same time “Out Loud thoughts “ and she laughed “ I will apologize tomorrow.. too much stress today! And Tyler… I said I made Hasselback Tomato clubs… making the tomatoes the bread part of that! I used bacon.. prosciutto..Gouda and water chestnuts with a rasberry vinaigrette sauce.”
She set plates in front of everyone with their servings on them.. then climbed back into my lap. Damien said “How’s Gus doing, Joey?” She shrugged “He’s sleeping.. and now the silver is gone, he is healing. He will have permanent scars and his upper body strength is going to be permanently affected because he was missing significant amount of muscles. I pieced back what I could.. but he’s retired now! These fuckers were inches.. hours away from his death! Oh baby! He wants to see you.. he’s already denounced his allegiance to this pack!”

I said “Of course! We will swear him in today!” Then Damien said “Blake.. I want to talk to you about becoming a Royal Adjutant Pack.. if you agree we will have an acceptance and swearing in on the way home!” I nodded.. “You already know I will accept. It means my pack will be acting on behalf of the crown in our sector.. correct?” And he nods. There’s no way I would refuse…
Damien tells Jo “You’re cooking next dinner party! This is phenomenal! Blake’s gonna be fat!!” We all laughed and apparently… John was feeling offended…or something… because he had to open his mouth “Your highness.. if there is nothing further.. my pack needs to get back on track.. there is a funeral pyre to arrange for the people your people killed” and my Jolene said “Well…technically, his people only killed one! Blake and I killed four each.. but who’s counting. And the day isn’t over yet… I could decide to add to it!”
Damien decided we were done here for the day… he said “Young Alpha… we will not be here for your ascensions … it feels like quite the waste of our time. I will leave you with this… get on the right side of the Goddess! Your reign will be a short one, indeed.. if you do not correct the behaviors I have seen exhibited today. Break the cycle! Jolene… did you still want to kill your brother today?”
She shrugged… “ My main concern is getting my dad home.. so he can heal. Tyler.. I will allow you to tell him goodbye.. if you even care enough. You are not my brother. You chose that slimeball as your family and I feel nothing but shame and regret where you are concerned! I hope it was worth it. I forgive you. And Jacob.. I forgive you.. you are, after all.. the product of your toxic environment. But, know this… if either of you come at me.. or for me..again… I will kill you both!” And she stands telling me she will wait for me outside.
I look at Jacob… hard… then at Tyler… “I am not as forgiving as my mate. And my memory is long! If I ever see you.. either of you.. again.. If I ever scent your pack.. anywhere near me and mine.. I will not hesitate to put you down.. like the rabid dogs you are!”
I stepped out to find my beautiful mate.. impatient to put the stench of this shithole behind us! I spot her supervising her dad being loaded in the back of one of the trucks.. when I see Jacob’s mate step up to her and say something stupid…because Jolene smiled..that evil little smile and roundhouse kicked the bitch into a tree! That’s my girl!
Once we are on the plane, I help Jolene and Lynette get Gus settled in then I accepted him into Bear Creek. His color was much better and he didn’t want to turn loose of his daughter’s hand. She calmly spoke to him.. brushing his hair from his forehead every now and then. Lynette had told us about the benefits of hers and Damien’s blood.. and how it might help Gus heal and get stronger. We both agreed it couldn’t hurt and once Gus had taken it into his system, he fell into a deep sleep. Jolene panicked a little but Lynette told her it is perfectly normal.. and it would happen to me, when I took the vow to become Royal Adjutant.
We have decided to wait until Gus is completely recovered before we hear his story. I don’t want to think his own son would torture him.. harm him.. but I also know Alpha Command. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt for both their sakes.. but after everything he’s ever done to Jolene.. it would be hard to believe anything different. Like I said.. it’s a wait and see situation.
Finally, having a free moment Damien and Lynette want to take care of the acceptance ceremony. I have to accept my position..then drink a small amount of their combined blood. Then, once awake, I will initiate Dalton with my blood. And at the Luna ceremony next week, when Angel and Odin mark each other.. the ceremony will be complete. It gives us a direct link to the Kingdom.. and them, to us.
I pledge allegiance and loyalty… Damien decided instead of having to drink the blood, we would transfer by clasping palms.. Damien, on my left.. closest to my heart.. and Lynette on my right. Great! They say powers come with this.. although they can’t tell me what.. My luck I will get something lame. Jolene laughs and tells me “ It will be fine.. as long as you don’t get the cloak of invisibility and hide in the shower with me” And now, I’m praying to the Goddess that is Exactly what my gift is!
