"Rejected by the Alpha" Chapter 21
The ceremonies all went well..and everyone had fun at the bonfire.. What we didn’t expect was for all the new position commissions were going to sleep for a solid 24 hours..Dalton included. Blake called Damien..who just laughed..telling him that’s the effect from even the slightest drop of Royal blood..which Blake and I have now since pledging our loyalty to him and the Kingdom. Would have been nice to have that tiny piece of information so we didn’t panic.
Blake’s parents are leaving today.. Damien wants them to travel around to the districts..see if they pick up on any chatter.. where Jacob is concerned. We believe he’s going to try and pull alliances and allies from all over.. so..we need to be ready for any eventuality.
I am at the restaurant today. Things have taken a turn for the worse with Mike’s mate. I saw her earlier and pulled pain away. Now.. I am interviewing sous chefs and bartenders. We are going to need help.
The day went well.. and I put on two new servers and got really lucky with sous chefs. We hired two for each shift. Only one bartender though. The other applicant was more interested in letting her tits hang out, than mixology. And.. the restaurant is simply not that kind of place!
As I was packing up my things, I heard a ruckus going on, in the front of the house. I called Blake and told him I had trouble and to alert Smoky Moon, before I went to see what was happening. I noticed there was two separate five tops set.. all rough looking men. All loud.. and all with that identifying scent of rogue. I texted Blake..
Rogues. Ten inside..more outside? IDK.
And went back to monitoring the situation. Each table seemed to have one man running the show. Deliberately taunting the servers.. one of them was flustered and near tears..so I decided time to step in.
I walked to the table with the loudest group. I smiled “Good evening gentlemen. What seems to be the issue? Demi..it’s your break time, honey.. don’t leave the back of the house.” And the ‘leader’ decides he wants to test me. “We aren’t done ordering! Bring that girl back here!” And I smiled.. “I’m the owner, gentlemen.. and I can assure you, I am capable of taking your order. Just tell me what it is you’d like”
He pretended to look over the menu before sneering “Why is everything so pricey? You serve it with gold flakes or some shit?” And I maintain my smile..before replying “We are an upscale restaurant. And cater to more discerning palates. Not to everyone’s tastes.. but I can assure you.. the food is top quality.”
One of the other men smirks “I just want a cheeseburger and french fries.. can you handle that with your hoity toity cooks?” And I fought back the laugh.. “We most certainly can. I fear the price of such simple fare will disappoint you, though. However.. there is a diner.. just a few minutes up the road.. that serves excellent burgers and fries. I eat there often” And the leader bellows “Oh! We aren’t good enough to eat here? Is that what you think? That we can’t afford it here!?” And he flipped the table. FUCK! Here we go!!

I spun a roundhouse and kicked him upside his head. Throat punched the guy beside him.. and sunk a steak knife into the eye of the guy trying to get behind me. One of them grabbed my arm and yanked me sideways,,going for a chokehold, and I jammed my hand up.. between my neck and his forearm..stomping on the instep of his foot, I reached my other hand between my legs and grabbed a handful of his nuts.. pulling..squeezing and twisting all at once. He let go of me and I headbutted backwards..crushed his nose. Just as I spun out and kicked another’s knee..hearing the snap.. Blake and ten warriors bumrushed the others. Damn! Within seconds.. altercation quashed!
I smiled.. then laughed! “It’s a good day! No one died!” And Dalton hugged me “Yeah.. but one guy ain’t ever going to have kids.. and another guy lost an eye..and, by that.. I mean he literally lost his eye. When he yanked the knife out.. his eye came too..and flung across the floor. Now we can’t find it! Another guy gonna walk with a limp for the rest of his life. And throat punch fella has a crushed esophagus. Note to self…never make Jolene mad!” And everyone laughed!
Marshal comes in “Another ten outside. They had an accident “ and Blake looks puzzled a second.. the chuckles “Accident?” Marshal nods..and grins “Ran into me…and their necks just broke.” Dalton’s mouth fell open and he asks “All ten?” And we all laugh but Marshal shakes his head “No..six ran into me.. the other four met Anthony” and everyone laughed.
We had the surviving rogues taken to our pack to lock them in the cells.. and the Alpha from Smoky Moon shows up.. demanding to know what was going on. Blake stepped to him and snarled “I called you within moments of being notified rogues are in your territories and you are only just now showing up? I told you my Luna may be in danger and you cannot even be bothered to send scouts? Tell me Thomas? How in the fuck did twenty fucking rogues enter your territory and get deep in the middle of it without detection?” He started blustering and sputtered out “You said there were ten in the restaurant and I know Jolene can handle herself!” And I could tell Blake was struggling with his temper.. I stepped up and wrapped my arm around his waist telling Alpha Thomas “Regardless.. it was ten on one.. you wouldn’t leave your own best warrior to answer to that! You are deflecting… my mate asked how the rogues made it all the way to the center of your territory without being detected?”
He sighed.. “For the same reasons, you see very few warriors with me now. Half of my warriors have been offered cash money by some pack in the midwest. Like a mercenary type deal. And the money is good. So.. now I am having to build back” Blake’s curiosity is peaked and something has him thinking.. “Do you know which pack in the midwest? And.. I will be having my people running patrol on your borders.. at least, until you can build back up. You need protection. This situation could have been dangerous as fuck!”
Thomas thanked him and I sent everyone home. I look at my mate “We know which pack.. what I want to know.. where is the money coming from. And why are rogues moving en masse? That isn’t usual behavior!” He nodded..
“We’re going to find out… Looks like we are about to find out just how good our techie Delta is! Let’s hope he’s as good as he says he is!” I asked “Should we call Damien?”
