"The Spy Bride of a Billionaire" Chapter 1
Chapter 1
As an irreplaceable cold-weapon streamer across the entire internet, Scarlett wielded her daggers with supernatural precision.
The chat playfully joked: "Times are tough, even assassins have to busk for a living."
Yet nobody knew that she truly was an assassin for the Shadow Syndicate.
Later, when her husband's company went bankrupt, she had no choice but to return to her old trade—streaming by day, killing by night.
At two-thirty in the morning, Scarlett sat outside the Grand InterContinental Hotel disguised as a middle-aged female driver, staking out her target.
But her husband Ethan slid into the car, winding his arm around his childhood sweetheart.
Scarlett stared at his expensive luxury watch and tailored suit; how did he look anything like a man facing bankruptcy?
…
"Driver, Riverwood Estates," Ethan spoke up, sounding groggy with sleep.
Riverwood Estates was the luxury villa community where they used to live.
Scarlett looked up and immediately caught Ethan's handsome face in the rearview mirror.
Right now, he was wearing a perfectly tailored haute couture suit, holding a young and beautiful woman in his embrace.
She recognized the woman too—Chloe, his childhood sweetheart and a third-tier starlet in the entertainment industry.
"What are you looking at? Start driving!"
In this moment, he had returned to his status as the lofty golden boy of the dynasty, arrogant and dissolute.
Where was there even a fraction of the ruined, destitute husband he claimed to be?
Scarlett only hesitated for a single second before resolutely abandoning tonight's assassination mission and starting the car.
Chloe snuggled deeper into Ethan’s embrace, speaking with a giggling sigh.
"Why are you being so fierce? Does seeing this old hag remind you of that miserable housewife you have at home?"
Miserable housewife? Scarlett froze for a beat before realizing she was talking about her.
Just as her fury began to rise, Ethan spoke up in a deep, warning tone: "Chloe, watch your words. She is your sister-in-law."
Chloe pouted, quickly changing the subject: "Then when do you plan to lay your cards on the table with her?"
Ethan frowned and countered: "Who said I'm laying my cards on the table with her?"
Chloe was stunned: "Didn't you fake the bankruptcy just to force her into taking the initiative to file for divorce? You even said the scars on her body are hideous, and that you lose all interest every time you see them..."
Hearing this, Scarlett’s hands tightened convulsively around the steering wheel as a suffocating bitterness, laced with an agonizing ache, radiated through her.
She indeed had many scars on her body; to hide her past, she could only fabricate a tragic childhood involving domestic abuse from her father.
Once upon a time, he would hold her with tears in his eyes, kissing every single scar on her body and swearing he would never let her get hurt again in this lifetime.

Because of that, she had truly believed that building a quiet life with him was the ultimate happiness.
But now she finally knew that underneath it all, he found her so repulsive...
Ethan seemed to recall something amusing, letting out a soft, smug chuckle.
"Even though I pretended to be bankrupt, she still hasn't left me. She loves me so much, I won't completely abandon her."
As he spoke, he casually twirled a strand of Chloe's hair around his fingers.
"It's just that loving only one person for a whole lifetime gets a bit too exhausting. Sometimes a man wants to taste something different."
"Once I've had my fun, I'll still return to the family."
Chloe’s face turned slightly pale, but she remained silent.
Scarlett pulled her gaze away from the mirror with a blank expression, her heart feeling as though it had been violently pierced by one of her own daggers, bleeding out in silence.
Enduring the torment, she drove them to the place they used to call home, watching in silence as Ethan effortlessly unlocked the door and guided Chloe inside the grand villa.
The lights flickered on on the second floor, and through the French windows, the sheer curtains rippled like waves.
Leaning against her seat, she forced herself to watch this scene in self-inflicted agony, her normally sharp and analytical mind completely paralyzed.
Her vision gradually blurred, and hot tears threatened to spill, bringing back fractured memories of their sweetest, most affectionate moments over the years.
How profoundly laughable it was that while she was working herself to the bone day and night to keep their family afloat, he was out here throwing away fortunes, laughing at her stupidity with his mistress.
"Ethan, we don't have a home anymore..."
As it happened, Scarlett was already weary of all the endless killing. Since he wanted to drift away, she would gladly grant him his freedom.
At five o'clock the following afternoon, Scarlett put on a face mask and started her livestream exactly as scheduled.
Her loyal fans were already waiting, and the moment her feed went live, the chat immediately erupted with their usual mantra: 【Times are tough, even assassins have to busk for a living!】
"Welcome, everyone."
With a flick of her wrist, Scarlett sent a playing card flying from her fingers like lightning. In the next breath, the card snuffed out a candle flame before embedding itself deeply into a distant wooden target.
The chat froze for a second before a massive wave of virtual gifts flooded the screen, lighting up the interface with dazzling special effects.
The automated system voiced its mechanical thanks. Scarlett picked a few comments to read aloud, maintaining her usual light interaction with the viewers.
Suddenly, a pinned comment caught her eye: 【Hey Goddess, care to do a live PK battle?】
It was a standard feature on the streaming platform, but it was a feature she had never touched.

Thinking about her impending departure, she realized she did need to accumulate a massive influx of quick cash.
Scarlett asked: "How do I initiate a PK?"
Following her viewers' instructions, she clicked the link, and the connection screen popped up.
"Hi there! Hello, gorgeous!" A stunning, familiar face filled the opposite side of the screen.
It was actually Chloe.
Before Scarlett could even process the shock, a deeply familiar voice drifted from outside Chloe's camera frame.
"Babe, are you livestreaming right now?"
Chapter 2
Scarlett recognized that voice all too well; it was Ethan.
During the second she froze in shock, the chat had already identified the connected streamer's name.
【Chloe? That celebrity?】
【Why did someone just call her babe?】
"I'm not single, I have a boyfriend now!"
Chloe pulled a man's hand into the frame, interlocking her fingers with his to show the screen.
As the camera shifted, it caught the man's wrist, revealing a distinctive black-and-gold watch face.
Someone in the comments instantly recognized it: 【Oh my god, that watch alone can buy an entire apartment in the city center.】
The chat was filled with awe over the wealthy elite, but Scarlett couldn't tear her eyes away from their interlocked fingers.
She didn't even know when exactly her own husband had managed to become someone else's boyfriend...
Chloe purposefully shifted her phone to flaunt the background behind her, saying, "I'm broadcasting from my boyfriend's place!"
Scarlett went completely stiff, looking at the familiar surroundings as a sharp ache pierced her heart.
That house held far too many of her memories.
It was the place where Ethan had saved her life, and it was the place where she had married him.
She just hadn't expected it to find a new mistress so quickly.
Seeing Scarlett staring in silence, Chloe asked, "What kind of streamer are you? Why are you dressed like that?"
Scarlett suppressed the suffocating bitterness in her chest, replying in a freezing tone, "A talent streamer."
Her voice was crisp and cold, completely different from her usual pitch. It was a deliberate disguise to ensure no acquaintances would recognize her.
Chloe looked intrigued: "What kind of talent? Can you show us?"
Scarlett nodded quietly, picking up a dagger from her side. Raising her wrist, her fingers snapped back as she released it with a swift flick: "Swish—"
The blade tore through the air with a sharp whistle, embedding itself perfectly into the bullseye of a wooden target five meters away.
Scarlett adjusted the camera to zoom in on the target, revealing that half of the dagger was sunk deep into the solid wood.
【Oh my god, I’m looking at a real-life martial arts heroine...】
【Dangerous stunt, do not imi... Wait, how could I even copy this?】
The comment section exploded with cheers, followed by another massive wave of virtual gifts.
Chloe was thoroughly amazed as well, pulling the man beside her: "Oh my god, that's incredible! Babe, look at this!"
Ethan replied with utter disdain: "What's so hard about that? Even the maid at my house can do it."
Hearing his words, Scarlett froze. There had never been a maid in their house.
Ever since she married Ethan, she had been the one washing clothes, cooking meals, and managing every detail of the household for him.
