"Luna's Farewell: A Broken Love" Chapter 2

Sienna's face fell, and her eyes welled up with mist.

"You don't care about me! If you won't let me stay, I'll tell my brother! You promised him you’d take good care of me! I’m a young woman alone in a hotel—aren’t you afraid something might happen?"

At this, Caleb rubbed his temples. "Sienna, stop being unreasonable!"

Luna sat not far away, quietly watching the two who were now pretending to be mere "siblings."

They had already done everything intimate, yet they were still playing this game in front of her.

Perhaps seeing that Caleb wouldn't budge, Sienna immediately looked at Luna with a pathetic expression. "Sister Luna, please let me stay for a few days. I won’t cause any trouble."

Luna looked up at her. "Fine. Feel free."

Hearing this, Sienna cheered and dragged her suitcase into the house.

She wasn't at all polite, walking straight to the dining table, her eyes twinkling as she looked at the sandwiches.

"Caleb, did you make these? You're amazing!"

Caleb slapped away her reaching hand and moved the plate to Luna.

"If you want to eat, have the maid make it. What I make is only for Luna."

Sienna’s mouth pouted, and she sulked off into the kitchen.

Luna looked at the breakfast on the table but didn't pick up her chopsticks.

Caleb noticed immediately. "Luna, why aren't you eating? Is it not to your taste?"

She shook her head slightly and made up a random excuse.

"No, I just suddenly wanted shrimp dumplings from the East Side."

Caleb immediately grabbed his car keys and began changing his shoes in the entryway.

"I’ll go buy them right now."

Sienna, who had just come out, heard this and immediately dropped the plate she was holding, hopping along after him.

"The food at home doesn't suit my palate either. I want to go out and eat, too."

Watching the two figures leave one after the other, Luna wore a bitter smile.

Half an hour passed, and Caleb still hadn't returned.

Luna sensed something. She pulled out her phone and opened the dashboard camera footage.

As the video loaded, a seductive panting sound echoed through the quiet room.

"Caleb, be... be gentler."

In the cramped car, the two who had just been at odds were now naked and entangled.

Caleb was thrusting frantically, his eyes red. He gripped Sienna's supple, water-like waist with his fingers. "If I wasn't rough, how could I satisfy you, hmm? You shameless woman, seducing your brother's friend was one thing, but now you dare to openly move into my house? Is it because you just want to cling to me?"

"Let me tell you! I don't love you at all. You’re just a tool for me to vent. Luna is my bottom line. If you dare bring our business to her, face the consequences."

Chapter 3

Just as Caleb finished speaking, Sienna’s sobbing voice came through the video.

"Fine, so it’s just me being delusional. I knew you were married and only had Sister Luna in your heart, yet I still wouldn't give up, forcing myself onto you every day and letting you toy with me like this! Do you think I want to be like this? If I didn't love you so much, why would I ever demean myself so?"

Watching her cry so pitifully, Caleb’s thrusting motion suddenly froze. Although his tone remained stern, his movements slowed.

"You can't handle a single word of criticism, are you that delicate? Where did that seductive energy from just a moment ago go? Didn't you say you only wanted my body, not my heart?"

Sienna didn't answer; instead, she cried even harder.

Caleb, helpless, finally leaned down and kissed away the tear stains on her face, bit by bit. "Alright, be good. Tell me what gift you want, and I'll buy it for you."

Sienna whimpered, aggrieved. "I want... I want the necklace you bought for Sister Luna, and the breakfast you just bought for her!"

Caleb’s brow furrowed. "Pick something else."

"Why not? That's what I want."

Seeing her looking so wronged and starting to tear up again, Caleb had no choice but to yield.

"Fine, take it. I’ll give you whatever you want, just stop crying, alright? Be a good girl, let me kiss you."

Even though she had long known Caleb had betrayed her, witnessing this scene with her own eyes still tore her heart to pieces.

Her heart contracted sharply, the agony forcing her to hunch over, covered in a cold sweat.

She bit her lip until it bled, yet she still couldn't stifle the sobbing in her throat.

Caleb.

Oh, Caleb.

At fifteen, it was you who stumbled through your confession, telling me I was the only girl who had ever made your heart race.

At twenty-two, it was you who knelt on one knee before me with a ring, vowing that your love for a lifetime would belong to me alone.

It turns out your "lifetime" was only a few short years.

Her sharp nails pierced her skin until blood welled up.

Yet her knuckles continued to exert force, digging the wounds deeper, as if only this could suppress the bone-chilling ache in her heart.

She sat blankly at the dining table, unmoving.

Tears streamed down like rain.

I don't know how much time passed before the phone screen returned to normal.

A moment later, Caleb, fully dressed, pushed open the door.

"Luna, I'm home..."

His gentle voice came to an abrupt halt. Seeing her tear-stained face, his heart gave a violent jolt, and he rushed over to her side immediately.

"Luna, why are you crying?"

Luna fought hard to control her emotions. She pulled out a tissue, her voice rasping with agony.

"It’s nothing. I just watched a very moving TV drama and started crying."

Caleb hurriedly took the tissue and gently wiped away her tears, his eyes filled with heartache.

"What drama? How did it make you cry so much?"

"Do you want to watch it?"

Caleb froze for a second before petting her hair with doting affection. "Sure, let me see it. I’ll have someone take that show down later. Who gave it the right to make my darling cry?"

As he spoke, he reached for her phone.

But the very second before he could tap the screen, Luna spoke up. "Where are the shrimp dumplings you bought?"

Caleb’s movements stiffened for a fraction of a second before he nervously embraced her, apologizing profusely.

"I'm sorry, Luna. They were sold out and the shop was closed by the time I got there. Let me go buy them for you tomorrow, okay?"

The moment he finished, Sienna entered, carrying a bag and holding it up triumphantly.

"I managed to get the very last order of shrimp dumplings! Sister Luna, do you want me to let you have them?"

Luna didn't speak. Her gaze was fixed straight on Sienna’s neck.

The sterling silver necklace Sienna was wearing was nearly identical to the one her mother had left behind.

It was clear that Caleb had stayed up all night picking out the exact same style to appease her.

Yet, with just a little trickery and a bit of pouting from Sienna, he had handed it to her instead.

Noticing her gaze, Sienna walked over and tugged on the necklace to show it off, smiling brilliantly.

"Isn't this necklace pretty? I just bought it, too. Sister Luna, do you think it suits me?"

Luna stared at it for a long time before she smiled, her laughter turning into tears.

"It suits you."

With that, she didn't bother checking their reactions and turned to head upstairs.

By evening, after eating a simple meal, Luna returned to her room.

As soon as she sat down, she felt a sharp, cramping pain in her lower abdomen, as if it were filled with lead.

She had no strength left. She collapsed onto the sofa, cold sweat slowly seeping from her body, quickly soaking her sweater.

Caleb, who followed her up, saw her in agony. Knowing it was menstrual cramps, he hurried downstairs to boil brown sugar water.

After feeding it to her spoon by spoon, he gave her medication and rubbed his hands together to warm them, gently pressing them against her stomach.

He held her, wishing he could bear the pain in her stead, his eyes overflowing with heartache.

"My darling, let’s agree not to have children in the future, okay? Seeing you in this much pain every month is more than I can bear. I can’t even imagine what it would be like for you to give birth."

Luna lifted her pale, paper-thin face, looking at him silently, her voice extremely weak.

"If we don't have children, what will your parents think?"

"I don't care what they think! Nothing is more important than you! If they try to force me, I’d rather leave the family and give up my inheritance!" He said this while lingeringly kissing her neck. "Luna, I’ve said it before: having you is all the spoiling I need in this life. You are my child, and I will spoil you for a lifetime."
