"A Demon's Obsession" Chapter 1

Reincarnated into another world, Anna Virelle finds herself targeted by a demon who uses host possession to propose to her through various disguises. Armed with a "cheat code" that allows her to see through every disguise, Anna is "deeply moved"—and rejects him every single time.

Seriously, when is he going to leave her alone?!

Abyssal Lord Rothgar Valemont entered into a wager with a friend: he must get one hundred human women to accept his marriage proposals within six months. He never expected that the first woman he encountered in the Human Realm would reject him without hesitation.

Not a fan of the handsome son of the City Lord, Patrick Wilson? What about a young genius mage, or the noble and pure Saint?

And yet... that human woman rejected every single one of them!

Driven to a fit of pique, Rothgar became obsessed with winning her over.

Six months later... Rothgar is prostrate on the ground, humbly kissing the arch of Anna's foot. His crimson eyes are hazy as he looks up at her, gasping, "Please... punish me for my insolence..."

Anna: "..." Once he snaps out of this, she is dead meat!

Summary I'd rather die than surrender!

Concept: Even in another world, nothing can stop the heroine from living life to the fullest.

Chapter 1: The Abyssal Wager

The Abyssal Realm.

The sky here was eternally dim. In the distance, phoenixes let out piercing shrieks as they flew by, leaving ripples of deathly aura in their wake. At the center of a vast, boundless plain, a tall and sinister castle stood in stark isolation. Within a ten-mile radius, not a single sentient abyssal creature dared to roam.

This was the Valemont Citadel, the seat of Rothgar Valemont, one of the five Abyssal Lords of the realm.

Suddenly, the silence was shattered. A teleportation array glowing with a faint purple light expanded above the castle, and two figures locked in an embrace materialized within it. As soon as the man and woman appeared, dozens of black flames surged up from below like lethal arrows, aimed to pierce the intruders.

The man, possessing a pair of horns upon his head, shifted his shoulders slightly. The thin wings behind him abruptly wrapped around the pair, and the black flames dissipated harmlessly against the thin membrane.

"Hey, Roth! Is this how you welcome me?" the man shouted down with dissatisfaction as he unfurled his wings.

A tall figure with massive leathery wings flew out from the citadel. His long black hair whipped in the wind, and a pair of curved black horns rested atop a face that was handsome yet chillingly evil. His narrow eyes narrowed further in displeasure, his ruby-like gaze overflowing with mockery. A sneer pulled at his lips, revealing snow-white teeth.

"Balian Draven, since when have I ever welcomed you?" Rothgar asked.

"Oh, come now, we've been friends for thousands of years. Why be so duplicitous?" Balian smiled, unbothered. "I'm getting married. I came personally to deliver the invitation!".

With a flick of his wrist, an exquisitely crafted invitation landed in Rothgar's hand. Rothgar caught it between two fingers, his gaze falling upon the woman Balian was holding. With a single look, he knew: she was a human.

The woman had thick, golden hair and delicate, beautiful features, yet her expression was that of a frightened fawn. She clung tightly to Balian's waist, seemingly terrified of falling.

Rothgar was a demon—in fact, all five Abyssal Lords had climbed their way out of the Abyss. Demons were naturally xenophobic and looked down upon other races, especially humans. To them, humans were the embodiment of filth, incompetence, and hypocrisy.

Though Rothgar mocked Balian every time they met, he truly considered him a friend. Hearing that Balian intended to marry a human woman made him think his friend was playing a joke.

"Have you gone mad?" Rothgar sneered. "Humans are so filthy I wouldn't even want to touch them, and yet you want to marry one?".

"Hey, don't say such things in front of my future wife. Katherine Vale is different; she is a pure and beautiful unicorn. I've fallen in love with her," Balian defended. He looked down at his bride-to-be, tilted her chin up, and kissed her tenderly. Katherine blushed and wrapped her arms around Balian's neck, looking utterly entranced.

Rothgar scowled, wanting nothing more than for the eyesore of a couple to get lost.

Sensing his friend's mood, Balian ended the kiss and looked at Rothgar with a grin. "Roth, I used to be obsessed only with sensory stimulation, thinking that was the greatest thing in the world. But now I've realized that the taste of love is the sweetest of all. You shouldn't stay cooped up in your citadel forever. Why not go out and taste the wonders of love yourself?".

Rothgar snorted. "Love? Your 'love' is with a hypocritical, lowly creature like a human? Balian, you are a disgrace to demons. You'll be the ruin of yourself at the hands of a human woman".

"Don't be so harsh, Roth," Balian countered. "Some humans are indeed annoying, but there are also little lambs like Katherine".

Katherine's blush remained, her green eyes reflecting Balian's handsome face. Rothgar could look no longer. He averted his eyes in disgust and said coldly, "Suit yourself. I won't be attending your wedding".

Black flames erupted from his hand, incinerating the invitation instantly.

Before Rothgar could fly back to his castle, Balian called out, "Roth, let's make a wager". Rothgar paused, his blood-red eyes flashing with interest. "What kind of wager?".

"You look down on human women and think they are all vain, don't you?" Balian said. "You have six months before the wedding. If you can get one hundred human women to accept your marriage proposals within that time, you win. But if you can't, you must attend my wedding".

"And if I win, will you kill your 'love'?" Rothgar sneered. Though he found the bet ridiculous, his competitive nature was piqued. Katherine flinched at his words, and Balian quickly pulled her closer to comfort her before glaring at Rothgar.

"If you win," Balian said, "I will give you the Abyssal Tree Seed I recently acquired".

Rothgar's expression changed. If he had been merely interested before, he was now determined to win. He had been searching for Abyssal Tree Seeds for thousands of years and had only ever found two. He had to have Balian's.

"Deal," Rothgar said, a smirk playing on his lips. "Keep it safe for me for the next six months".

Balian didn't mind Rothgar's arrogance. He added with a mischievous glint in his eye, "However, you cannot force them. You cannot kidnap them to the Abyssal Realm. You must go to the Human Realm and use your personal charm to conquer their hearts!".
