"Desperate Ex: Never to Meet Again" Chapter 2

It was a call from the Landon family driver.

Lucas frowned and answered.

The driver’s anxious voice came through.

"Young Master, it's terrible! Madam fell down the stairs at the Jiang residence!"

Lucas’s expression changed drastically.

By the time he arrived at the Jiang residence, his mother had already been loaded into an ambulance.

He kicked open the door to the Jiang family’s ancestral hall and saw Joanna kneeling before her mother, firmly shielding Julian behind her.

Her back was battered and bruised, blood and flesh torn, yet she remained silent without a single moan.

When Mrs. Jiang saw Lucas, she pulled a smile onto her grim face:

"Lucas, you're here."

He cut straight to the point: "Mrs. Jiang, how did my mother suddenly fall down the stairs?"

From her, he learned that while his mother was discussing the cancellation of the engagement with Mrs. Jiang, Joanna had brought Julian back to the house in broad daylight.

His mother, overcome with rage, had slapped Julian a few times.

The two were standing right by the staircase.

No one knew exactly what happened, but they saw his mother accidentally tumble down the stairs, her head striking a sharp corner of the landing, causing her to lose consciousness immediately.

Julian stood on the stairs with a flustered expression.

Seeing Lucas’s face look exceptionally grim, Mrs. Jiang took his hand and said:

"Lucas, don't worry. I will certainly give you an explanation for this incident!"

Joanna, however, shot him a sharp look:

"This was just an accident; it has nothing to do with Julian.

"I will order the hospital to provide the best possible care for your mother."

Lucas ignored her, pulled his hand away from Mrs. Jiang’s, and walked up to Julian, asking word by word:

"Did you push her?"

Julian’s face turned pale instantly, and he looked at Joanna with feigned innocence:

"It wasn't me... I didn't..."

She rose abruptly from the ground, stood in front of Lucas, and steadied the trembling Julian, her eyes firm:

"I said, it was an accident."

However, Lucas noticed the slight curl of Julian’s lips hidden behind his hair and the faint, imperceptible provocation in his eyes when he looked at him.

With a sharp gaze, before anyone could react, he raised his fist and landed a heavy punch on Julian!

"Ah!"

Julian shrieked, stumbling and falling to the ground. His exposed arm was scraped, and a mouthful of blood sprayed from his mouth.

Just as Lucas prepared to throw a second punch, Joanna, who had regained her composure, grabbed a rod and blocked him.

She stared at him coldly, eyeing the fainted, blood-phobic Julian:

"Lucas, have you lost your mind?!"

"Don't you know that Julian not only has Type O-negative blood but also a clotting disorder? If he gets hurt, he could be in mortal danger!"

With that, she gave the rod a violent twist.

The force of the spin caught Lucas off guard, snapping the hand holding the rod.

His right hand hung limply at his side.

Joanna, however, ignored it, only anxious to order her bodyguards to pick up Julian, leaving behind a harsh threat.

"If anything happens to Julian, I will never let you off!"

After saying that, she left without a backward glance.

Mrs. Jiang had just recovered from the chaos when she saw Lucas’s retreating back.

She hurriedly said: "Lucas, there are too many entanglements between our two families, and besides, you love Joanna so much, the matter of canceling the engagement—"

Before she could finish, Lucas interrupted her.

"Mrs. Jiang, canceling the engagement is non-negotiable."

After leaving the Jiang residence, Lucas rushed to the hospital where his mother was being held.

But upon arriving at the hospital, he was informed that his mother had been rushed into the operating room again!

The driver said with a troubled expression:

"Young Master, the Jiang family is truly excessive!

"Madam was already in a coma from excessive blood loss, yet they insisted on drawing more blood from her!"

Lucas’s eyes turned crimson instantly, and he sprinted toward the operating room.

Julian only had a superficial scrape!

There was no need for a blood transfusion!

When he arrived, the doctors were about to wheel his mother’s bed into the theater.

"Stop!"

He blocked the path, looked at Joanna, and said sharply:

"Joanna, who gave you permission to touch my mother?!"

She spoke to him with uncharacteristically gentle tones:

"The hospital blood bank is running low, and only your mother’s blood type matches Julian’s."

Lucas stared at her rare display of kindness, laughing in cold disbelief.

"That’s complete bullshit.

"Joanna, if you dare to touch my mother, I will tear this hospital of yours to the ground!"

Joanna’s expression darkened instantly.

"Lucas, you should know that this hospital bears the name Jiang!"

"Do it!"

As her words fell, several security guards grabbed and restrained him.

"Joanna!"

Lucas watched helplessly as his mother, already unconscious from blood loss, was wheeled into the operating room, and four full bags of plasma were drained from her!

"I have arranged for the best experts to consult on your mother's case. After all, she is my future mother-in-law, and she will certainly receive the best care."

Hearing this, he felt a burning urge to rush forward and rip Joanna’s shameless face to shreds.

He struggled desperately, suddenly bursting with a surge of strength to break free from the guards and lunged for the plasma bags.

In the next second, a syringe was violently plunged into his neck.

Cold liquid spread through his veins.

He lost his strength bit by bit, his consciousness blurring.

Finally, unable to support himself any longer, he collapsed to the floor.

At that moment, Joanna took two steps forward.

She carefully took the plasma from his hands, not even sparing a glance at Lucas who lay heavily on the floor, her voice flat:

"Prepare for Julian’s transfusion immediately."

Lucas’s final memory was of her cold, retreating back.

He woke up in a hospital room.

The nurse coming to change his IV drip didn't notice him wake up and continued gossiping with the person beside her.

"Miss Jiang is truly head-over-heels in love with Mr. Julian! It was just a scratch on his arm, and she had the best dermatologists in the hospital called in for a consultation."

"Don't even mention it; I feel unlucky just thinking about it. Julian’s wound had already scabbed over in the operating room, but he refused to let us tell Miss Jiang, insisting that the plasma be delivered."

"I thought it was useful, but who knew he would just puncture the plasma bags directly! Blood was everywhere, and I had to clean it up for an entire night!"

After the nurse left, Lucas slowly opened his eyes, his body trembling with rage, his nails digging deep into his palms.

He calmly pulled out the IV needle and found the room where his mother was staying.

His mother had lost too much blood; even with the best medicine, she still hadn't woken up.

Looking at his frail mother, Lucas’s eyes burned with heat. He immediately arranged for the Landon family staff to pick up his mother and transfer her to another hospital.

Afterward, carrying a baseball bat, he headed straight to the VIP ward where Julian was staying.

Outside the room, four doctors stood guard to monitor the situation at any moment, and inside, ten nurses were on standby.

It was clear how much Joanna cared for Julian.

But upon seeing Lucas, who arrived with a baseball bat and a malevolent expression, the medical staff didn't dare to step forward to block him.

Julian was lying on the hospital bed, happily eating fruit.

Seeing the menacing Lucas, his pupils shrank slightly, and his voice trembled:

"Lucas, what do you think you're doing?!"

"I'm warning you, if you dare to touch me, Joanna will never let you get away with this!"

His only answer was the baseball bat Lucas swung without a moment’s hesitation.

"Bang!"

The small table on the hospital bed shattered instantly.

"Ah!"

Julian screamed as he scrambled off the bed in a panic, still covered in fruit.

The next second, his voice abruptly cut off.

The baseball bat in Lucas’s hand was pointed just ten centimeters from his face.

"Julian, do you really think that just because Joanna has your back, I can't do anything to you?"

As he spoke, he reached out and grabbed Julian’s chin, forcing him to look up.

"Don't forget, my name is Landon!"

"I don't mind you trying to steal Joanna—I have no interest in fighting over trash—but you shouldn't have touched my mother!"

With those words, he violently raised his right hand and swung down.

A large hole was smashed into the middle of the multi-million dollar equipment, and flying debris embedded itself into Julian’s flesh, sending him into a series of agonizing screams.

Lucas curled his lips slightly, gripped his neck, and leaned in to whisper:

"Didn't you say you were blood-phobic? Don't you have a clotting disorder?"
