"Intertwined Fates" Chapter 13

It was Julian at eighteen.

Wearing a white shirt, he looked as clear and handsome as a small poplar tree in the desert.

Time ticked by bit by bit.

At four in the afternoon, a stylist suddenly arrived at the house.

"Mr. Sterling said to let us do your makeup so that you can look beautiful at the birthday banquet tonight."

Clara couldn't help but smile.

In their calm life, it was rare for Julian to have such romantic moments.

Thus, she let the stylist paint and beautify her face.

To her surprise, she had expected the stylist to have her wear an intricate evening gown, just like the banquets she had accompanied Julian to in the past.

However, the stylist gave her a simple white dress.

After putting on the clothes and standing before the mirror, she couldn't help but exclaim: "Your hands are truly skillful; it feels like returning to ten years ago."

She exclaimed.

Near dusk, a black Rolls-Royce drove quietly into the estate.

Clara got into the car, not knowing where the destination was.

As the vehicle drove on, she watched as they grew closer and closer to the Jiang University campus, and her heart began to thump rapidly.

Driving on, she could see from afar that the small river near the campus was bustling with activity.

Clara was somewhat confused.

Before her birthday, she and Julian had agreed to just have a simple celebration.

But now, there were too many people.

She even saw college classmates in the crowd whom she hadn't seen in ten years.

As the car door opened, brilliant ribbons flew into the sky instantly, and many people were shouting in unison: "Happy Birthday!"

Clara was completely stunned.

She looked not far away at Julian, who was wearing a white shirt and holding a bouquet of flowers, walking toward her step by step.

Her eyes were almost pinned to him, and her love seemed about to overflow from their corners.

She remembered this scene; it was the scene from more than ten years ago when Julian had proposed to her.

Beside the university campus, he had worn a white shirt, carried flame-like roses, and, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, knelt on one knee to propose to her.

But back then, she had carried too many burdens.

She had painfully refused him, rejecting the possibility of happiness.

And now, this scene was being reenacted before her, as if crossing through time.

All the hardships she had experienced over these years no longer existed.

Julian walked closer to her step by step and knelt on one knee: "Xiao Ying, do you remember this scene?"

Clara looked at him blankly, then smiled, her eyes reddening.

"I think the things that happened that day were definitely not just my own regret." He cleared his throat and took out a slightly dim velvet box.

The box opened, revealing the diamond ring she had thrown away twice.

At this moment, it had been cleaned and still emitted a bright diamond luster.

"I love you, Xiao Ying. Will you marry me?"

The marriage proposal vows, having crossed time, rang in her ears.

The two looked at each other, their gazes meeting in the air.

Clara lowered her eyelids, her heart feeling an indescribable flutter.

Her heart, her body, all her emotions, were rushing toward the person in front of her.

This time, she could finally, without any reservations or hesitation, give her answer.

She reached out her ring finger to him and cried, saying: "I do! I do!"

Julian slid the ring on, then pulled her tightly into his embrace.

Clara wrapped her arms around his neck and took the initiative to seek his kiss.

This was a promise that had crossed eleven years, and a kiss that had crossed eleven years.

At this moment, holding her lover, she felt that her long-held regrets had finally been filled.
