"The Fragrance of Sin" Chapter 1
Chapter 1: The Phoenix Rises
The private jet of Fiora Silva Corp cut through the gray skies of São Paulo, tearing across the thick layer of clouds that draped the metropolis amid a heavy thunderstorm. The luxurious aircraft touched down on the private airstrip with an impressive mechanical smoothness, officially closing four long years of exile in cold and distant Paris.
Evangeline remained seated in the white leather armchair, her gaze fixed on the urban landscape blurring through the armored window against the steady drizzle.
She was no longer the fragile, submissive girl who had been banished to the gutter, but rather the ruthless and brilliant CEO Eva, ready to reclaim what was hers by right of blood. Four years of sleepless nights, chemical formulas, and calculated vengeance had hardened her soul into a diamond-hard armor that no man could ever break again.
"The exchange rates and early acquisition reports sent by Dominic Vance’s agents are already on our digital desk, my dear," informed Matías, adjusting the cuffs of his linen shirt with the effortless elegance typical of French nobility. His silver-rimmed glasses caught the dim cabin light as he scrolled through his tablet.
"They can send whatever they like, Matías, because no piece of printed paper will ever buy back the empire that monster tried to destroy," Eva replied, keeping her golden-toned eyes locked on the rainy horizon.
Her voice was as cold and precise as a surgeon's scalpel, carrying the weight of a woman who had walked through hell and learned how to build her own throne out of the ashes.
Little Dante, sitting in the adjacent seat, dropped his reverse-engineering tablet and walked with firm steps toward the window to observe the city lights below.
The four-year-old boy adjusted the collar of his lead-gray mini-suit, exuding the same icy air of superiority as his mother. His intellect had always been terrifyingly advanced, capable of calculating algorithms before most children could tie their shoes.
"Mother, the messengers of the Vance clan are already waiting in the VIP arrivals area with a multi-million dollar proposal to buy our entry into the market," the boy remarked, his voice clear and perfectly articulated, devoid of any childish hesitation.
"Tell your uncle Matías to tear up their offer before we even reach the door, Dante, because we do not negotiate with starving hounds," Eva commanded, adjusting her dark sunglasses over her porcelain face to shield her amber eyes from the glaring cabin lights.
"Consider it done, boss," Matías chuckled softly, a wicked amusement dancing in his aristocratic features as he tapped a command on his screen, instantly deleting the digital acquisition files sent by the Vance holding.
The aircraft door opened with a sudden gust of humid, heavy air, carrying the characteristic scent of ozone and wet asphalt peculiar to the capital of São Paulo.
Eva descended the retractable staircase with an unshakable dynastic posture, setting foot on Brazilian soil in red-soled heels that felt like the opening steps of an execution. Every movement was calculated to project absolute dominion, a stark contrast to the terrified girl who had fled this exact city in a downpour four years ago.

A suited man holding a leather briefcase and a million-dollar contract quickly approached the stairs with a flattering smile on his face, attempting to intercept the newly arrived tycoon.
"Ms. Silva, on behalf of Mr. Dominic Vance, I bring you an exclusive corporate partnership proposal to secure your arrival in Brazil and shield your assets from local market volatility."
Eva neither stopped walking nor glanced at the intermediary, keeping her chin held high and the expression of a true ice queen.
"Tell your boss that the only thing I will ever accept from him is a signed bankruptcy notice in court," she retorted, passing the man without granting him a single second of attention.
The emissary froze in his tracks, his smile evaporating as he stared at the retreating figure of the woman who had just rejected the most powerful conglomerate in South America with a flick of her wrist.
Matías followed right behind, holding Dante's hand and casting a look of absolute disdain at the astonished corporate lackey. The French count broke into an ironic smile and murmured to the wind that the hunt among the Brazilian high society had finally begun.
A few miles away, inside the imposing glass penthouse in the Jardins district, Dominic Vance felt a sudden, sharp ache in his chest.
The billionaire, consumed by years of chronic insomnia and a corrosive emptiness, dropped his whiskey glass onto the oak table, watching the amber liquid shatter and stain the Persian rug like dried blood. His breathing grew heavy, his massive frame trembling with a phantom pain that doctors had never been able to diagnose or cure.
"Something is wrong with the air tonight, sir," warned his private assistant, nervously gathering the papers scattered across the dark room, well aware of the unpredictable volcanic temper of his employer.
"It is merely the smell of the storm," Dominic lied through clenched teeth, his pupils dilating as he dug his fingers into the solid wood of his executive desk, feeling the phantom scent of Evangeline burn his skin like acid.
He had spent fourteen hundred and sixty days tearing his life apart, searching for a ghost in every dark corner of his empire, yet the emptiness inside him only grew wider.
Back at the airport, Eva opened the door of the state-of-the-art armored car and settled into the plush leather seat, her perfume filling the interior with a dangerous blend of cold metallic jasmine and dark musk.
Dante sat beside her, swinging his legs and staring into the rearview mirror with his deep sapphire-blue eyes, identical to those of the billionaire who hunted them in his thoughts.
"The wolf must already be smelling our approach toward the forest, Mother," the boy whispered, a cryptic, chillingly familiar smile playing on his lips.
"Let him howl as much as he wants, my little wolf, because this time we will be the ones setting the rhythm of the slaughter," Eva concluded, shutting the door with a dry snap as the vehicle sped away into the torrential rain, plunging headfirst into the war that would burn their past to cinders.
