"ABSOLUTE SUBMISSION" Chapter 9
The salt-heavy air of the Rio de Janeiro commercial port tasted of rusted iron and impending destruction as midnight approached.
Distant sirens wailed through the winding coastal avenues, signaling the arrival of federal authorities closing in on the final pockets of the syndicate.
Alistair Vance’s private armored convoy raced down the deserted container terminal, tires shrieking against the wet asphalt with lethal intent.
Inside the lead vehicle, Alistair stared straight ahead through the windshield, his knuckles white as he gripped the edge of the leather seat.
His phone buzzed with an emergency diagnostic report showing that Alberto’s financial time bomb had been successfully quarantined by his quantum defense grid.
Yet all the digital security in the world could not soothe the frantic, suffocating panic hammering against the billionaire's ribs.
Ahead of them, near Pier 42, a sleek black smuggling speedboat idled against the choppy black water, its twin engines purring like a caged beast.
Alberto stood on the wooden deck of the vessel, his silver hair whipped wild by the ocean wind as he held a trembling, frantic hostage.
Matheus stumbled blindly before him, a terrified look in his eyes as Alberto jammed the cold barrel of a pistol hard against his skull.
"Move faster, you useless parasite," Alberto snarled, spitting a curse down onto the deck as he dragged the former manager toward the cabin.
"I gave you everything," Matheus whimpered, tears streaming down his hollow cheeks as the freezing metal bit into his flesh.
"You promised me protection from Vantage Capital. You promised me an empire!"
"An empire is built on survivors, not whining fools," Alberto hissed, his finger tightening slightly against the trigger as the sound of approaching tires echoed.
The Vantage Capital convoy slammed to a halt behind a row of rusting shipping containers, throwing open its heavy doors in a blur of motion.
Alistair stepped out into the damp night air, his tall frame cutting a terrifying silhouette against the flashing red and blue lights of the police cruisers.
Beside him stepped Inspector Silva, an upright and unyielding federal police officer holding a secure tactical radio close to his mouth.
"Perimeter is fully secured, Mr. Vance," Inspector Silva reported, his voice cutting through the rising wind with authoritative precision.
"Every exit vector out of the bay is blocked by our naval blockade. They have nowhere left to run."
Alistair did not acknowledge the officer, his piercing amber eyes fixed entirely on the figure holding a gun to the deck of the speedboat.
"Alberto," Alistair shouted across the dark water, his voice carrying a supernatural chill that made the mafia boss flinch visibly.
"Your accounts are frozen, your partners are in federal custody, and your escape route is a shallow grave."
Alberto laughed hysterically, pressing his pistol deeper into Matheus's temple as he backed toward the open cabin hatch.
"Step back, Alistair, or I scatter your precious traitor's brains across the Atlantic right now," Alberto screamed, his voice cracking with desperation.

Before Alistair could give the command for his snipers to fire, a sudden movement broke the shadows near the edge of the wooden pier.
Kian slipped out from behind a stacked wall of cargo crates, moving with quiet, lethal grace that caught everyone off guard.
"Kian, stay back!" Alistair commanded, a sudden flash of raw terror breaking through the billionaire's icy composure for the first time in his life.
Instead of retreating, Kian stepped directly into the open line of fire, his sapphire eyes locked onto Alberto with unwavering courage.
"Let him go, Alberto," Kian called out, his voice echoing cleanly across the water over the roar of the idling boat engines.
"This is between you and the ghosts of the people you murdered."
Alberto’s eyes widened in wild fury as he shifted the barrel of his weapon away from Matheus and aimed it squarely at Kian's chest.
"You arrogant little singer," Alberto roared, his finger jerking back against the trigger with blind, murderous intent.
Alistair let out an animalistic roar of absolute anguish, lunging forward with a speed that defied human limitations.
A sharp crack of gunfire split the night air, followed immediately by a heavy, sickening thud against the wooden planks.
A stray bullet grazed clean across Kian’s upper left shoulder, slicing through his leather jacket and drawing a bright line of crimson blood.
Before Alberto could pull the trigger a second time, Inspector Silva and three tactical snipers opened fire from the cover of the containers.
A hail of precise federal rounds shattered the speedboat's windshield, punching through Alberto's chest and sending him tumbling backward into the dark water.
The mafia boss sank beneath the churning foam without a sound, vanishing into the depths alongside his shattered criminal network once and for all.
Matheus collapsed onto the deck of the boat, gasping for air as federal agents swarmed the vessel to slap heavy steel cuffs on his wrists.
As two officers dragged the shivering, broken manager off the boat toward a waiting police van, Matheus spotted Alistair rushing past.
With a final, desperate gasp, Matheus twisted around and locked his wild eyes onto the billionaire's pale face.
"Wait," Matheus choked out, blood pooling on his lip as he forced out his final, poisoned words.
"Your mother... Helena didn't jump from the tower that night. Alberto pushed her, but my father held the door."
Inspector Silva immediately shoved Matheus into the back of the cruiser, slamming the heavy door shut and cutting off any further revelations.
Alistair stood frozen on the edge of the wooden pier, the final piece of the dark puzzle snapping into place with devastating, crushing finality.
Before the weight of the confession could pull him under, a warm, steady hand pressed firmly against his bleeding arm.
Alistair snapped out of his trance, his amber eyes dropping down to meet Kian’s calm, reassuring sapphire gaze.
"I am fine, Alistair," Kian said softly, ignoring the warm trickle of blood staining his shoulder as he offered a gentle, grounding smile.
"The monsters are gone."
The dam of emotional control that Alistair had maintained for decades finally burst into a million jagged pieces.
Without a word of hesitation, Alistair reached out and pulled Kian into a fierce, trembling embrace, burying his face in the singer's neck.
His strong arms wrapped around Kian's waist with such terrifying force that it felt like he was trying to fuse their bodies into a single soul.
"If you had died," Alistair whispered, his voice cracking with a broken, desperate agony that tore at the heart of the burning port.
"I would have burned all of Rio down with us."
Kian closed his eyes, resting his chin against Alistair’s broad shoulder as he hugged the man back with all his remaining strength.
Behind them, the confiscated smuggling boat exploded into a roaring wall of orange flame, devouring the remnants of the syndicate in purifying fire.
