"All Five of My Roommates Want Me" Chapter 6 — What Happened in Suite 1708

“Tell me everything,” Jamie said.

No one suggested waiting.

Ethan began.

At 12:58 a.m., Jamie had stopped recognizing the room. Caleb suspected a drug interaction and wanted an ambulance, but Adrian controlled the event security team. Lucas discovered someone had already flagged Jamie’s name in the hotel system.

They chose the nearest private suite while Caleb called a trusted toxicology colleague.

“You carried me,” Jamie said.

Ethan nodded. “You kept apologizing for being heavy.”

“I weigh one hundred fifty pounds.”

“You were not heavy.”

Noah snorted. “He looked ready to carry you across state lines.”

The first minutes in Room 1708 had been chaos.

Jamie vomited on his shirt. Mason helped him remove it after asking permission, even though Jamie could barely answer. Because Jamie was impaired, Mason treated uncertain sounds as refusal and kept a towel over him until Ethan found the hotel robe.

“You never saw me naked?” Jamie asked.

Mason’s face reddened. “Your chest. Nothing else.”

“He threatened Noah with a lamp for looking,” Lucas added.

“I was checking whether Jamie was breathing,” Noah protested.

Caleb attached portable cardiac leads from the hotel medical station. Those created the square red patches on Jamie’s chest. Jamie cut his palm when he knocked a water glass from the table. Mason’s bloodstained cuff came from pressing a towel to the wound.

The bed became wrecked when Jamie’s muscles cramped.

Noah held Jamie’s legs to keep him from kicking the wooden frame. Ethan supported his shoulders. Caleb monitored his airway. Mason cooled his face. Lucas left twice to remove Jamie’s room information from the hotel network.

“And the pillow?” Jamie asked.

Ethan touched his bruised cheek. “Mine.”

At 3:14 a.m., Adrian used the master key.

Lucas had secured the chain latch. Adrian opened the door only several inches and claimed he had come to check on Jamie.

Ethan saw a second man waiting in the hall with a camera.

“He wanted photographs,” Jamie said.

“Or something worse,” Caleb replied.

Ethan forced the door shut. Adrian’s companion pushed back. The lamp fell. Ethan struck the man through the opening while Lucas triggered a silent security alarm using a false room number.

Adrian fled before independent hotel security arrived.

“Why didn’t you call the police?” Jamie demanded.

Lucas answered. “Because Adrian’s security chief was a retired police captain. We had a drugged man, five roommates, a destroyed hotel suite, and footage of all of us kissing you. He wanted us to call.”

Jamie understood the trap.

Any one of them could have been blamed.

“So you moved me?”

“To the adjoining room registered under a false name,” Lucas said. “I wiped the access trail.”

Caleb remained with Jamie until his heart rate stabilized. Noah and Mason brought supplies. Ethan went downstairs to draw Adrian’s men away. Lucas moved between rooms and monitored cameras.

“Then why did I wake alone?”

Silence returned.

Ethan’s expression hardened with self-directed anger. “You woke briefly at six. You recognized me. You asked me to stay.”

“And you left.”

“Adrian sent a photograph taken from across the street. He knew the new room. I went out through the service exit so he would follow me.”

“You decided alone.”

“Yes.”

“You could have been killed.”

“You were the target.”

Jamie crossed the room before he decided to move. He shoved Ethan’s chest.

Ethan accepted it.

Jamie shoved him again. “You do not get to turn yourself into a sacrifice and call that protection.”

“I know.”

“Do you?”

Ethan caught Jamie’s wrists only when Jamie swung a third time. His grip was firm, his eyes blazing.

The contact sent unwanted heat through Jamie.

Ethan felt Jamie’s pulse jump and immediately released him.

“This is what I was afraid of,” Ethan said. “That you would confuse danger, gratitude, and desire.”

“Maybe stop telling me what I feel.”

“Then tell me.”

Jamie looked around at all five men.

Noah’s mouth was tight with jealousy. Mason looked wounded. Caleb watched with medical calm that failed to hide emotion. Lucas stood utterly still.

Jamie had kissed all five before the drug took effect.

The choice had been real.

His attraction now was real too.

But attraction did not create a relationship, and gratitude did not create love.

“I don’t know yet,” Jamie said. “That is what I feel.”

Every man accepted the answer.

It made Jamie trust them more.

Caleb gathered the blood test, the video, and the medical notes. Ethan drafted a preservation demand to prevent the hotel from destroying records. Lucas created encrypted copies. Noah called a former client who worked in private security. Mason fed everyone because terror always sent him to the kitchen.

For the first time, Jamie saw their different forms of care operating together rather than competing.

At two in the morning, he found Ethan alone on the back steps.

“Did I kiss you again in the second room?” Jamie asked.

Ethan’s shoulders tensed. “You tried.”

“Tried?”

“You pulled me down and said you wanted me. You could not tell me where you were.”

“So you stopped.”

“Immediately.”

Jamie sat beside him. “Was it difficult?”

Ethan gave a humorless laugh. “The most difficult thing I have ever done.”

“Thank you.”

“Don’t thank me for meeting the minimum standard.”

Jamie leaned his shoulder against Ethan’s.

This time, the contact was his choice.

Ethan remained still until Jamie took his hand.

Inside, Lucas’s laptop sounded an alert.

They hurried in.

An email had arrived from Adrian Vale.

Attached was a photograph of Jamie unconscious in Ethan’s arms.

The message contained one sentence.

GIVE ME THE ORIGINAL VIDEO, OR THE WORLD WILL SEE WHAT FIVE MEN DID TO YOU.

For one terrible moment, nobody spoke.

Then Jamie took Ethan’s phone and typed a reply.

Lucas caught his wrist before he sent it. “What did you write?”

“Publish it.”

Five voices objected at once.

Jamie pulled free. “That recording shows consensual kisses followed by five men protecting me. Adrian thinks humiliation belongs to me. It doesn’t.”

“The internet will distort it,” Mason said.

“Then we release nothing publicly until police have the evidence,” Jamie answered. “But Adrian needs to know fear isn’t controlling this room.”

Ethan crouched before him, his usual authority deliberately lowered. “What do you want from us?”

It was the right question.

“No threats. No vigilante nonsense. No one follows Adrian alone. We preserve every message, cooperate with detectives, and keep asking me before making decisions about my story.”

Noah exhaled through his nose. “Can I fantasize about vigilante nonsense?”

“Privately.”

“Generous.”

Jamie edited the message.

WE SAVED THE ORIGINAL. THE POLICE HAVE IT. CONTACT ME AGAIN AND THEY GET THAT TOO.

He sent it.

Three dots appeared immediately, disappeared, then returned.

Adrian replied with an address and a photograph of a brass key resting on Jamie’s childhood yearbook.

COME ALONE IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY I CHOSE YOU.

Jamie’s stomach tightened.

The yearbook had been stored in a locked box beneath his bed.

Adrian had already been inside their home.

They searched the house without splitting up. A window latch in the laundry room showed fresh scratches. Jamie’s lockbox remained under his bed, but the contents had been rearranged with theatrical precision.

Adrian wanted him to feel watched everywhere.

Jamie stood in the doorway until his breathing steadied. “I’m not sleeping somewhere else.”

Ethan began to object, caught himself, and changed the sentence. “Would you like company here?”

“In the hall. Not in my bed.”

They created shifts. Mason took the first, Lucas the second, Caleb the third. Noah complained until Jamie assigned him dawn. Ethan accepted the couch nearest the stairs.

At two in the morning, Jamie opened his door and found Lucas reading beneath a lamp.

“You can sleep,” Lucas said.

“I know.”

Jamie sat beside him anyway. Their shoulders touched only after Jamie closed the distance.

For ten quiet minutes, safety was not a locked door or a man standing guard. It was the certainty that the man beside him would not mistake proximity for permission.
